Diamond Lil

A former espionage agent for Department H, Eugene Milton Judd is a long-standing member of Alpha Flight. Recently, he had a falling-out with Vindicator.
Puck

Latest in an ancient line of Sarcee medicine men, Michael Twoyoungmen derives mystic power from the protective spirits of the land through his leather medicine pouch. Shaman is also an accomplished physician.
Shaman

Elizabeth Twoyoungmen is the daughter of Shaman and the bearer of the mystic Talisman, granting her mystic powers in excess of even her father's.
Talisman

Anne McKenzie is the civilian identity of Snowbird, a northern demi-goddess -- born of a union between man and goddess -- whose true name is Narya. Raised by teammate Shaman, Narya has the ability to fly and to shapeshift into any creature of the North.
Snowbird

Renowned radiation scientist Walter Langkowski was bathed in Gamma radiation, giving him the ability to shapeshift into the mythical creature of the North, Sasquatch. Walter later found out that he was actually assuming the physical form of one of Canada's Great Beasts when he transformed. Walter enjoys a romantic relationship with Jeanne-Marie Beaubier, aka Aurora.
Sasquatch

A mutant with the powers of flight and super-speed, Jean-Paul Beaubier is a troubled young man, angry and standoffish. He is devoted to his sister, Aurora, and doesn't approve of her continuing relationship with Walter Langkowski, aka Sasquatch.
Northstar

The sister of Northstar suffers from a split personality -- the matronly, puritanical Jeanne-Marie and the funloving Aurora. As Aurora, she shares her brother's abilities of speed and flight. The twins may also pool their powers through physical contact, igniting a blinding burst of light.
Aurora

The successor of General Clarke, Gentry is the current Director of Department H. He's a lot more straight-forward with Alpha Flight than their previous director was.
Gentry

Namor, the Sub-Mariner, and King of Atlantis has been both friend and foe of humanity. He has been a member of the Avengers, Invaders and the Defenders.
Namor

Editor's Note: This story takes place before the "Inside A Broken Mirror" story arc in M2K's Defenders.

King Namor, the Submariner, ruler of all of Atlantis, went on his usual patrol under the sea, trying to find any threats to his kingdom and maybe himself, as well. Sometimes he would find larger known creatures of the sea attacking lesser ones but not this night. He travelled to the gravesite of his beloved Marrina, the Alphan who died many years ago.

It was the anniversary of her death and for such, he always cried in her memory. His winged tipped feet landed near the gravesite and he bent down to speak to her.

"Oh, Marrina, the years do pass with quickened speed, now, don't they? What else can I say that I haven't said before? You were my lover, my wife, and I will miss you with each passing day as I miss you today and from the day you died."

It was then at that exact self-same moment that the Submariner saw a ship approaching him at the grave. He recognised it instantly as the ship belonging to the evil one, the Master of the World.

"By the Seven Seas," Namor shouted, as he swam upwards to face his darkest enemy. There was hate in his eyes and a stern expression across his face as he cleaved the water with powerful arms.

"Imperious Rex!" Namor punched the side of the ship, trying with all of his might to sever an opening within it. The ship was too thick. It had too many defences, like a major force field so his blows caused minimal damage.

Then, all at once, metallic tentacles shot forth out of the hull of the ship, grabbed the Submariner and threw him to the other side of the ocean's depths.

As Namor was out of the way, the Master, at the controls of the ship began to dig in the grave. Dig for the lost Marrina and her one other child.

The Alpha Complex

In Diamond Lil's quarters, Madison Jeffries, her husband of many years, posed a very important question. "So, what is it with you and Kamikaze? Is there something going on between you two that I should know about?"

Lil turned to face her husband. "I don't know what you're talking about. We are team-mates now and I'm only trying to help him reform."

"Lil, don't you remember that he once kidnapped you and tried to kill me? Doesn't that mean anything to you? I just don't think that he can be trusted."

"The only way he can win our trust is if we work with him showing him that being a member of Alpha Flight would be more productive than being an assassin."

"Agreed. But he's going to have to work hard to earn my trust."

Lil smirked. "You're almost as insufferable as Jean-Paul."

"Oh, come on, don't be that way. I understand that you're trying your hardest to make Kamikaze a cohesive member of the team and you've done a great job. At least I think so." Madison wrapped his arms around Lillian and brought her body closer to his. He kissed her on the neck.

She pushed him aside. "Don't think that a little lovey-dovey will make things all right between us. Y'know I won't rest until everyone of the team, including you Madison, is pleased with the way I'm treating Kamikaze. He is just a friend, after all. Nothing can break up our love."

"I know. I trust you, babe."

"That's all I need to know."

It was a normal day at the Alpha Complex, as Gentry laid out his plans for recapturing the China Force. Gentry wasn't around when China Force fought Alpha the first time. Actually, in those bygone days, there was no government liaison for Alpha. That was in the days when Heather was the leader of Alpha Flight and Mac was still among the dead. While Gentry laid out his plans for putting them in a federal Canadian prison where they rightfully belong, Mac and Heather were at Alphanex, printing out their specs.

"Anything yet, Mr. Hudson?" Gentry asked.

Heather ripped off the specs and handed it to Mac who then in turn handed it to their liaison. "Here you go, Mr. Gentry. This should make it easier to capture them."

"Good, Mr. And Mrs. Hudson. Any new business?"

Walter and Jeanne-Marie raised their hands. Walter stood up and addressed the various members of Alpha Flight. "Aurora and I have decided to move in together. We are looking at apartments in the surrounding areas. Maybe one day we'll get married but we're going to leave that for the future."

Heather hugged Jeanne-Marie. Congratulations, Aurora. I'm so happy for you two. I had a feeling you two would tie the knot soon."

"That ees true, Heathair. Walter and I 'ave been in love for many years and I-"

"Oh, what a touching scene," a new voice sounded within the room. All members of the team looked upwards and saw that a new figure had appeared. It was none other than Llan, the Sorcerer. He was not here in his true form, as if he teleported here from another place, but a ghostly image. A psychic or mystical image from the astral plane.

"What do you want, Llan?" This last question originated from Vindicator.

"Simply, to use some of your powerful members of the Flight to die at the hands of the Master."

Then, Diamond Lil, Madison Jeffries, and Snowbird disappeared.

The rest of Alpha Flight was left stunned, as Llan's image too faded into obscurity.

Just then, Diamond Lil, Madison Jeffries, and Snowbird appeared in the Master's ship. What they saw was the Master at the helm, with the Submariner in chains and two Plodex creatures in a containment tank. Lil recognised the central figure as the maddened Marrina. So, she was alive. Not dead, as previously believed. And the other creature had to be her last child. Lil read from Alphanex that Marrina had three children and from the Avengers' files, two of which fought Iron Man and Subbie.* The ones she bore when she mated with Namor.

"As you know, I am the Master, soon to be Master of the World," the Master spoke to three members of the core Alpha Flight team, laying out his plan as all villains are wont to do. "It occurs to me that you also know that the Plodex race, which Marrina and her child hail from, are a highly adaptable race and a killer one, at that. But it seems that that killer instinct did not fall into these two children of the inherent Plodex. So, that means to further study these creatures, to make contact with the other Plodex people, I may have to torture them some more and perhaps kill them."

"I don't care what you're up to, Master of the World," Lil commented, as she clenched her fists and leapt into action. "But it stops here and now! And I'm the woman to stop you!"

"Be careful, Lil," Jeffries said, as he gestured his hands in the air, transmutating energy flashing all around to thwart the Master's plans of halting her attack while he was at his controls.

The Master touched a controls stud on his switchboard and tentacles like from an octopus flew in every which direction to entrap Lillian and Madison Jeffries. But Madison had power enough to stop his attack. He entangled the tentacles in one another. The Master cursed to himself and tried another venue of attack.

"Snowbird, see if you can free the Submariner and Marrina and her child," Madison ordered to the demigoddess.

Snowbird nodded and soared in the air to where the people in question were held captive. She used her superhuman strength to break Namor out of his bonded chains. The reason that he couldn't do it himself was that his strength was sapped when he was out of water and there was a heat ray, constructed by the Master, surrounding him. Snowbird then destroyed the heat ray.

"Namor, to your destined mate," Narya called to the King of the Seas.

"Oh no, you don't," the Master said to him, as he used fisticuffs to bludgeon Namor with his physical strength. Namor was still a little weak from the after-effects of the heat ray and could feel the blows and kicks that he thrust at him.

"It looks like it's up to me again!" Snowbird flew in the air to the containment tank, like she did for her own children, and pulled a series of levers and pulleys to free them. The problem lay in that the Master twisted them for his own evil desires and they were all ravenous beasts, maddened with hate for the Submariner and everyone in the ship besides the Master.

"Die!!" Marrina, maddened, slashed her claws at Snowbird's not-so-helpless form. Narya retaliated by extending her own claws and fighting back. They were locked in battle. Then, the Marrina-child attacked the Submariner, Lil, and Jeffries.

"We're in sheep dip now," Madison said, as he constructed weapons out of the inner workings of the ship to attack the child. He was thus far successful but he didn't want to harm him overmuch. He only knocked him out for the nonce but he soon awakened to renew his attack.

Diamond Lil launched into battle as she punched Marrina upside the head. Namor screamed at her to stop this madness, more at Marrina than Lil. But all was not lost because he knew that he could communicate with Marrina to halt this perverse activity.

"Marrina," he said, "You have to stop this. I am your husband. I am the one who loves you. Why would you want to harm me or worse yet, kill me? Look into my eyes, dear Marrina, and let me show you how much I love you."

"No, no, no!!!!"

Marrina punched him and he fell down, more surprised than anything else that she would strike out at him.

Not far away, Madison Jeffries caught up with the Master. He wrapped him in chains of metallic origin. "What do you want from us? Or more specifically, Marrina and her children? You had a little scuffle with Iron Man not too recently." He paused for a moment, thinking over the answer and then said to his foe. "I think I've figured it out. You want to take over the world. And you see Marrina and child as the way to accomplish that goal. Am I right or just tell me if I'm getting warm?"

"Silly mortal, just because you have figured out my plan doesn't mean you will be able to defeat me. I have friends in high places."

There was a flash of light surrounding the Master.

"Oho, lookee here, it looks like the Master has fled the ship," Jeffries said, as they all noticed the disappearance of the Master. "Probably Llan's doing."

"C'mon, Subby, let's get the heck out of here," Lil said. "And take Marrina and her child with us."

The Submariner complied with Diamond Lil's wishes and they let the ship sink to the bottom of the ocean.

The Alpha Complex

Mr. Gentry and the two Hudsons co-ordinated the latest meeting. The discussion was about their roster and how they would deal with all of them.

"It was come to my attention," Guardian said, standing up, "That Alpha Flight has too many members to sustain on one team. So we have decided between my wife and myself to split the team in twain, calling the main team, Alpha Flight, and the sister team, Beta Flight.

" Alpha Flight will consist of myself as leader, Puck, Sasquatch, Aurora, Northstar, Shaman, Snowbird, and Marrina."

Vindicator then stood up. "And Beta Flight will consist of myself as leader, Diamond Lil, Talisman, Madison Jeffries, Kamikaze, and Persuasion."

Everyone in the two teams raised their hands. "For Alpha, for the love of Canada!!"
