PREVIOUSLY IN ALPHA FLIGHT: In light of losing control of the beast within him, Sasquatch has agreed to get radiation treatments from Guardian to cure him of his ailment. Meanwhile, SAFE had arrested Kamikaze for the crimes against humanity as a member of the AIM paranormal strikeforce. He decided to wait for his time on trial but before that happened, Beta Flight, on orders from Alpha Flight, broke him out of the Vault. Now, the Flight has to find out what is this new interest in Kamikaze before it is too late... "So, you mind tellin' me what the devil is going on, Beta Flight?" Kamikaze asked, angrily, this question directed primarily at the Jade Dragon, who was in his civvies now as Dei Guan. Dei turned to him as he took off his mask. "We had no choice. The P.M. doesn't want the USA to have an international incident on its hands." "For your information, I'm not Canadian. I'm Japanese. I was born in Japan and the only international incident I expect in the ones in Japan." Kane stepped forward. "You have severed your ties with Japan once you became an assassin for hire and then, joined an American based terrorist organization like AIM. Your whole life is one international incident after another. So, if I were you, which I could be, I would keep my trap shut and see what Guardian and Mister Gentry wants with your sorry ass." The Alpha Complex "I hope you have an easy explanation for this," Gentry said, at his usual yelling tone of voice at Kamikaze. "You're not gone two seconds and already an American, no less, paramilitary force who thinks of themselves as another SHIELD called SAFE arrests you and you do nothing but await your trial. How do you explain that?" "I think you did a fine job all by yourself, Mr. Gentry," Kamikaze said matter-of-factly. "Now do I have asylum or not?" Gentry nodded in the affirmative. "You do. I will have a number of epsilon Guards at the apartment of Madison Jeffries and Diamond Lil. You will stay there. They won't be able to get you there. They would expect you to go to that apartment you were at." Kamikaze patted him on the shoulder. "Thanks, Gentry." "You're quite welcome. Next time they try to arrest you, try to resist. They have nothing on you. You're reformed now." Kamikaze looked wearingly at Gentry. "That may be true. I am reformed. But I was a murderer before. And I did it for money. But then again, you may be right. Maybe the Americans are just into this whole war on terrorism and looking for a target."
"Look, Mac, I know that I'm a scientist and that I have dealt with radiation treatment before when I first bombarded myself with gamma rays when I turned into Sasquatch to turn myself into another Hulk-but is this gonna hurt any??" Clad in a suit and white lab coat, Mac Hudson aimed the radiation device onto Walter's chest and said, " It shouldn't. Instead of bombarding you with the gamma rays which is my hope, I am instead extracting the radiation from your body and harnessing it in this device." "I guess I have to trust you. But then, I know about radiation more than you, Mac. You deal with the electromagnetic spectrum which is housed in your battlesuit but you have been broadening your horizons. So, I will trust you." "Thanks for the vote of confidence. Let's just get on with it, eh?" "Eh, indeed?" Hearing Walter with a quick sound of tongue on teeth, Mac pressed a button on the device. At the tip of the radiation device, energy was released from it and extracted the radiation from Walter's specific blood type and it was absorbed into the device. The process lasted for no more than a couple seconds. Then, it was all over. Mac lifted his goggles when it was done. "So, how do you feel, Walter?" "I don't know." "Why don't you test it and try to change into Sasquatch?" "Okay," Walter concentrated and nothing happened. It was over. He was no longer Sasquatch. Walter was elated. He embraced Mac. "You did it, Hudson! I'm free! I can live a normal life with Aurora." "It looks like we succeeded." "What does this mean for my future in Alpha Flight?" "Well, we still need a scientist around here. You could help with that around here." "Thanks, Mac. You're a lifesaver." "You're welcome. Hope Aurora is ready for this.'
Canadian Paranormal Prison within the Alpha Complex... Shaman walked down the hall of the Complex, with his medicine pouch in hand. It had been a while since Alpha's last battle with Llan the Sorcerer and his Evil Mystic Army. * * (Circa Alpha Flight #11-22 and AF Annual 2001-Gregg) Llan was imprisoned within Live World, where they fought their last battle and Llan was believed dead by the rest of Alpha Flight but Shaman had his doubts. A being which was reputed to be the unbeatable foe couldn't simply die in Live World. He was probably still among the living, plotting and scheming. The rest of his army, the Dream Queen, Ranark the Ravager, and Pestilence were trapped within the void of his pouch. Now, he had to export them to the Paranormal Prison. He looked down the hall and saw a battle-wrenched hallway, with Guardian talking to Iron Man. * * (See Iron Man #20 for the details of what happened to the Canadian Paranormal Prison and what Iron Man and Guardian are talking about-Gregg) After the commotion had died down and the rest of Alpha Flight has returned to their quarters, Guardian allows Shaman to use the last cell on the left. Shaman puts a spell on the cell that will neutralize the mystic army's magical powers once they are deposited there. Without looking into it, Shaman reaches his hand into the pouch and transports the three mystical beings into their individual cells. The J-C Building Jerry Jaxon walked the hallways of his inner laboratory, with his assistant Delphine Courtney beside him. She was very much his social secretary. "So what did Llan the Sorcerer bring us to this day?' Jaxon asked. "Why, none other than Bedlam, the Brain Blast and his team of Derangers." "I thought they were dead. Killed by Heather Hudson and Alpha Flight many years ago." "No. This is from an alternate dimension where Bedlam and his team survived the battle with Alpha Flight. He didn't get his head chopped off by Heather's plasma blasts. He just stayed in his cocoon. We have placed him in his cocoon and all we have to do his release him." "Good, good. Let's get to it then." The two arch enemies of Alpha Flight entered the room where Bedlam was held. In the center of the room was a huge life-sized coccoon where Jaxon suspected that Bedlam was being held. "How do you suspect we free it?" Jaxon asked, curousity tinging his soul. Delphine Courtney smiled. "Simple. You break him out of that contraption." "Oh, I get it. I'll do it as Box." "Right." Jaxon removed a metallic plating from his belt buckle and released it, letting loose the Box armour that he wore when he killed Guardian. He phased into the armour, like the originator of the armour Roger Bochs and Madison Jeffries did on occasion, and punched a separation into the cocoon. Then, he grabbed both sides of the crack and opened it, as Courtney described him to do. Inside, was a man clothed in an armour plating who had a burned face. Bedlam the Brain Blast was free! Marrina walks down the hallway of the Alpha Complex, lost in her thoughts. She wonders if she will be a healthy member of this team, this Beta Flight. She was a member of the team for a short while until she was controlled by the Master. * Then, she left the group to be with Prince Namor and rule as his queen. * (See Marvel's Alpha Flight (1st series) #2-Gregg.) So, to say the least, she is quite new to this team thing. They haven't been on any real mission yet. They haven't even been through properly training yet. Kane and Wyre are professional killers, so they had the experience to be on a team. Jade Dragon however was inexperienced because his past altercations with Alpha Flight had been proving his innocence while battle China Force. * * (See Marvel's Alpha Flight #69 and M2K's Alpha Flight #12-Gregg again.) And Marrina was somewhere in the middle. She had the experience to be on a team but the field experience. Her rampant thoughts were interrupted when Puck approached her. "Penny for your thoughts, Marry?" Eugene Milton Judd asked her. "Oh, they're not worth that much, Puckie." "What's wrong? Don't you like Alpha Flight?" "I do. But I don't think that I belong on this new team. They're so much more powerful than me and some of them, like Kane and Wyre are born killers like Wolverine." "I don't think that's fair. You fit in fine, eh? Anyway, I think that Dei Guan is quite smitten with you." "Judd, I'm married to a king. I can't have an affair with an Alphan. All I can be is a team-mate to him, a friend, like us." "Whoa. I was just kidding, just trying to cheer you up." "I know, Puck. Treat you to lunch." "It's a deal." And then, holding hands, Puck and Marrina walked over to the cafeteria. Hull House The Prime Minister made a lot of changes to Alpha Flight in the last couple of months since Walter's marriage to Aurora. First of all, her husband's newest members were relegated to Beta Flight and the majority of Alpha Flight were forced to leave, including Kamikaze, Madison Jeffries, and Diamond Lil, with the other mystics of the group, who helped them fight Llan the Sorcerer and his army. There were other minute changes. That Alpha flight had to recruit paranormals and put them in Hull house, where she was now. Worst of all, the P.M. decommissioned her battlesuit. He said that there was no need for two battlesuit wearing super heroes on the team. Also, she was thrown off the team. Not her job was to recruit new runaways for hull House. She never thought that she would return here or be here at all. It was a place that unnerved her. She entered hull House and met face-to-face with the headmistress. She was an old, elderly woman with a smart suit on and a black skirt. "Oh, Miss Hudson, we're glad to have you here," she said. Heather smiled at her slip of the tongue. "Sorry, that's Mrs. Hudson. I'm still married to Mac, your backer. But I'm glad to be here," she said to the woman. "What can we do for you?" the woman asked. "Well, simply put, I am here to see how you are progressing. Were you able to contact the former members of Beta flight; Murmur, Flex, Radius, and Ghost girl, and the like?" "Yes, they are in the training room with the others." "The others? So, you were able to recruit more? Good. Do you mind if I take a look?" "No, not at all. Actually, we encourage it." "Then, lead the way." "You were wonderful," Walter Langkowski said, while he and Jeanne-Marie were in bed together at their shared apartment. Jeanne-Marie frowned. "And you were satisfactory, ma cherie." "Satisfactory? Only okay. We've been together for most of our adult lives, we have slept together many times. I have to be more than 'okay'." "No, it's not you. I'm just worried about my brothair. I thought at our wedding he had really changed for the good but now he has turned back to his stubborn ways. And now, he has quit Alpha Flight for good. And I feel that it is somehow my fault." "If it is anybody's fault, it's mine. Remember he blames me for all your problems. I know that he also hated me for being in love with you. I'm not sure what he wants." "He just wants you out of the picture. The big picture. Out of my life and the lives of Alpha Flight." Walter stood up and faced his wife. "Is that what you want? Me out of your life?" "No, of course not. I love you more than my heart will allow. But maybe if he stayed around, he would find out that you are no longer Sasquatch and free of your curse. Maybe we should-" "Should what? Go after him and bring him back into the fold? Is that what you want?" "I don't know. But we should do something." And Walter knew that that would be more trouble for him.
The Jeffries' Apartment... "I knew that there would be trouble with you from the get-go," Madison said, raising an accusing finger at his former team-mate, Kamikaze. The ninja had by now taken off his mask, pocketed it, and was staring at Madison, wanting to know when his bad attitude would end. "Maddie, please!" Lil pleaded with her husband to stop arguing with someone that she felt was her friend and more than just a teammate in Alpha Flight. He had embraced her once and kissed her. Even though she was married to Jeffries at the time, she felt feelings for Kamikaze and wanted to reciprocate those feelings. "No, this time he has gone too far. Not only was he a member of the AIM paranormal strikeforce, nearly crippling Alpha Flight in the process, but now an America group wants to put him on trial for his crimes against the world. It may be another in a long line of Bush's agenda to end the war on terrorism but I say, we should be all for it. He should stand trial and found guilty. The world should see if indeed he is guilty or not." "Maddie, you can't mean-" "No, Mr. Jeffries is right." This phrase came from Kamikaze. "I should stand trial. This is what I want. Maybe I am guilty. Maybe-" There was a loud explosion from the doorway and entrance of the little shack and all three former Alphans saw Colonel Sean Morgan and the rest of SAFE enter the room they were in. "You are under arrest for the crimes of being a member of Advanced Idea Mechanics! Surrender or we will be forced to subdue you." "All right, you win," Kamikaze said. "I surr-" "Alpha and Beta Flight Attack!!" Guardian yelled, as he circled the apartment. He blasted the doorway and shattered it with a EM pulse. "The only way you are getting our Alphan is through our dead bodies." "Those words are music to my ears, Mac baby!" Kane shouted, as he extended his claws on both hands and sliced Morgan's machine gun, disarming him. "I would have preferred to not do this the hard way, but I guess beggars can't be choosers!" Sean said. He took out his service revolver and started aimlessly. Nefertiti Jones threw a plasma grenade in the air and the Jade Dragon disintergrated it with his fiery breath. Marrina was fighting with some of the SAFE agents, using her sharp claws to rip and shred their protective uniforms. "Stop it this instant!" Kamikaze shouted at the top of his lungs. "I don't them I surrender. I will go with them quietly. Maybe I belong to go on trial." "You don't have to, you don't have to play martyr for them," Guardian said, as Gentry handed him an e-mail. "This is from Prime Minister that there is no evidence of your charges and you are trespassing on international soil without probable cause. We suggest you leave now." SAFE left by ways of their hovercraft.
