PREVIOUSLY IN ALPHA FLIGHT: Guardian was tired of being railroaded by the Prime Minister so he, his wife Heather Hudson, and Mr. Gentry went to see him. He demanded that he return his wife's geothermal battlesuit and renege on some of his earlier ultimatums. The PM gave back to Heather her geothermal suit and passed the Canadian Paranormal Recruitment Act. The Alpha Complex "This is simply the best," Vindicator said, as she flew in the air above the ground. She was a few miles above the Alpha Complex, enjoying the thrill and excitement of being in her battle suit again. Her forcefield was up and a huge smile was upon her face. Below her, her husband and partner, James Macdonald Hudson also called Guardian was standing on a grassy plain watching her. He was proud of her, so proud, as proud as he ever would be. He had on his costume, his own original battlesuit, the one he himself invented after he developed the cybersuit for Jerry Jaxon. He tuned into his radio link, his CB set, and hooked into Heather's frequency. "Heather? Heather? Can you hear me?" She did a couple of high-flying flips in the air and then, suddenly stopped. "Yeh, Mac. I can hear you. What's up?' "It looks like you are enjoying yourself. We may have made the right decision to get your suit back." "You sure did. Thanks, Mac. I really appreciate it." Then, she alighted on the ground right beside Mac. She embraced him. He responded in kind. "I take that as a yes?" Mac said. "You bet you do." "C'mon, we better go back inside. The team is waiting for us." As Vindicator joined the rest of the new recruits in the Nursery to train for their next battle along with Beta Flight, Guardian went into his apartment complex not far away to think over his life and see what lay ahead in the future of Alpha Flight. He took off his cyber helmet and placed it on the mantle piece. He was tired. A lot his happened to Alpha Flight the last couple of weeks; with wedding of Sasquatch and Aurora to SAFE trying to put Kamikaze on trial for his crimes as a member of AIM. Suddenly, he heard a rustling sound, like the moving of the breeze on his window curtains. The room was dark because it was still sunny out. "Okay, mister, I don't remember who you are or what you want but it stops here and now!" Hudson yelled at the top of his lungs as he raced to the mantle to grab his helmet. It was gone. It simply was not there. Without it, he was helpless, a normal human being wearing a crazy costume that was useless in his hands. "What's going on here?" Hudson asked, as he saw a figure entering the room. He saw the familiar figure. It was Bedlam, the Brain Blast. Before Hudson can make another move, Bedlam releases a brain blast from his mind and makes the valiant hero collapse. "Without your helmet, you are useless," Bedlam says, as he gloats over his victory. "Now, your suit is mine." Bedlam then strips Hudson of his suit and dons it and the cyber helmet over his own garish costume. Hudson is still unconscious. Then, Bedlam teleports the suit and himself out of the apartment complex and to the headquarters of the J-C Building. The J-C Building Bedlam teleported into the building and walked into the room where the robotic Jerry Jaxon was waiting for him with Delphine Courtney and the rest of the new Gamma Flight. He threw Hudson's costume and his cyber helmet onto his desk. "I got the suit for you," Bedlam said. "With the helmet, you can now control the suit and beat Alpha Flight into submission." "You have done good, Bedlam," Jaxon said, "I'm glad you used restraint in capacitating Hudson. I know there is grudge between you two." 'Yes, there is. But I'd rather humiliate him than just destroy him." "His humiliation will be his destruction and the destruction of Alpha Flight. I want you to go to the Alpha Complex and get Vindicator's costume for my little Delphine here. I also want you to take your Derangers with you to battle the rest of Alpha Flight. We will be waiting here for your success." "Come, Derangers," Bedlam said, as the Derangers stood right next to him. Freakout, Breakdown, and Janus. Then, they disappeared on their journey to the Alpha Complex. After they vanished, Delphine turned to her lover/ business associate, Jerry Jaxon. "Do you think that he and his pitiful band will be successful in destroying Alpha Flight?" "No, of course not. In the reality that is now Heather Hudson killed the real Bedlam with one plasma burst to the head. She could do it to him again, and now Alpha Flight has expanded their ranks so that it would be no match." "Maybe you should have gone in there as Box. Remember, as Box, you killed Hudson or at least, injured him so that he had a chance to teleport elsewhere." "Yeh, maybe I should have. But then, I never was a team player." "Neither am I. We are both better at being in the background planning our foes' deaths while our henchmen do our dirty work for us." "At least, we can hope." Jaxon paused. "But it would be easier to kill Hudson and finally get my revenge on him now that we have his battlesuit." They laughed, plotted, and planned. "Mac, are you all right?" Heather asked her husband as he lay on the floor of their apartment. After training with the Betans and the Nursery recruits, Heather returned to the apartment to check up on her hubbie. He was still unconscious, so Heather raced over to his side to try to revive him. She slapped him on the cheek a couple of times until he was aroused. "What happened?" Mac asked, confused as to his surroundings. "I was hoping you could tell me. Do you remember anything about what happened to you and why you are naked." Hudson stood up and put on one of his robes. "I was attacked. By someone that I could have sworn was dead or at least, in a cocoon somewhere.' Heather was aghast. "Do you mean Bedlam?" There was a loud explosion and the subject of their conversation appeared; Bedlam and the rest of the Derangers. Not even realizing that he was just wearing his robe and he had no powers without his battlesuit, Mac rushed to choke Bedlam but Freakout blocked the lunge and threw Mac across the room against a bookcase. "Mac! You animal, I'll get you for this!" Heather screamed as she let loose a geothermal pulse at the man-monster Freakout. He growled as he barely felt the power of the blast. Breakdown tapped Heather on the shoulder. She exploded hurling Heather out the window and onto the grassy plain below. Breakdown reconfigured herself and joined her master, Bedlam, in the fight against Mac Hudson. Before Bedlam and the Derangers can make another move toward Mac, there was another loud explosion as the rest of Alpha Flight entered through the front entrance. Puck cartwheeled through the air and hit Bedlam, feet first, in the face. For a couple minutes he could not see and was dizzy from the impact. Kamikaze threw Chinese throwing at Janus and pinned him to the wall. He gripped Janus by the neck and demanded, "Where is our leader? What have you done with her?" "Ask Breakdown. She was the one who attacked her." Kamikaze decked Janus and repeated the blows until he fell asleep. Mac approached Bedlam. "What do you want with us? You stole my suit. Now you want my wife's. Who are you working for? Who pays your check?" "Wouldn't you like to know?" Bedlam replied to his question with another question. "But alas you will never find out until it is too late. Too late for you and your precious Alpha Flight." Bedlam snapped his fingers and he and the rest of the Derangers disappeared to be transported to the J-C Building.
