Walter Langkowski went to bed last night, right next to his wife Aurora. They had been enjoying the last few weeks of their married life without the burden of him being Sasquatch. He had been freed of that curse, because recently he went on a rampage in a park in greater Canada, killing some innocent park goers. Guardian used some radiation treatment to cure him of his ailment. That was before Bedlam kidnapped him in the middle of the night.

Bedlam is a powerful telepath who disabled him with but a thought. It was easy for him to do this. But Aurora was beside him when Bedlam and the Derangers attacked him miles away from the Alpha Complex. She is very headstrong but she was powerless against Bedlam’s superior might. Without the ability to touch her brother’s hand (since he is not a member of Alpha flight anymore), she couldn’t blind him with their light powers.

Walter opened his eyes only to find himself surrounded by water in a containment tank. He was underwater and he had underwater breathing apparatus on. At the edge of the large scientific room, he saw Bedlam and the Derangers, but in front of him, acknowledging everything that he did and said, was the unwheelchair-bound Jerry Jaxon and his sexy business associate and girl Friday Delphine Courtney.

Walter struggled with his bonds, since there were cables bounding him to the sides of the tank.

Jaxon approached Langkowski and said, “My scientists examined you thoroughly, Walter, and you did gain your man-brute powers by giving yourself a large dose of gamma radiation, turning yourself into a pseudo-Hulk. You followed in the proud tradition of Dr. Robert Bruce Banner. But Hudson, that eternal bastard, took that away from you. Or so he thought. But you don’t have the body of Langkowski, but of Snowbird and Snowbird is really a clone of herself concocted by AIM. But it is no fun to fight you without your powers, or the ability to shapeshift into your Sasquatch form. Let’s induce a little gamma radiation into you right now.”

If Walter had the voice to scream at this very moment he would, so all he could do was lash out in pain as the gamma bombardment began. The glass that contained him in the tank began to crack and break until it shattered. Walter lay on the floor of the room, in a state between consciousness and unconsciousness. It was a state of non-being and non-existence, but he was still aware of his being, his surroundings, and that he was strangely, perturbly, still alive.

Jaxon looked behind him to Bedlam. “Bedlam, my dear one, kickstart that change within Walter now.”

“Gladly,” Bedlam responded, and utilized the totality of his mental powers to induce great pain within Walter’s mind.

Waking up, Walter felt the pain of the great change happening all over him. Since he was clothed only in a pair of white shorts, he didn’t have to worry about ripping his clothes due to the change. Orange fur sprouted from all his endings and soon he was the orange behemoth again. He was Sasquatch and this time he was angry, like the Hulk was.

Once he gained the power of speech again, he said, “Jaxon—Jerry, what have you done?! You ruined my life. I was going to have a normal life with my darling wife, but you destroyed it.”

In great mental anguish, Sasquatch turned around and busted out of the side wall and walked his long trek back to the Alpha complex and wondered how he was going to explain this to Aurora

On the shores of Lake Ontario

“It’s simply breathtaking, isn’t it?”

The person that asked this question was Marrina, mainstay of Beta Flight, who was accompanied by Puck and Dei Guan, the Jade Dragon. Dei was in his human form. Both men had strong feelings for Marrina, in fact they both loved her in their ways. But Puck was her best friend and Dei wanted to be her boyfriend or her husband, especially now that it looked like Namor and she were outs.

“It sure is, Marry, eh?” Puck said. Marrina was standing in the wading area of the lake, about to go into it, to go for a swim.

“Need someone to go with you, Marrina,” Dei said. Even though he wasn’t much of a swimmer, he would go to the ends of the earth with her. He felt that strongly about her.

“It’s all right, Dei,” she said. “But I really need to be alone right now.”

“But you look like you need help,” Dei said.

Puck put a hand on Dei’s arm, holding him back. “Don’t press it, eh?”

Soon, Marrina went under and disappeared in the horizon.

Dei looked at the lake, where nothing seemed to surface, and then turned to Puck. “I know you and Marrina have been friends for years, but I think I should talk to her. She needs help. Something is bothering her. I know what it is like to be an outsider.”

“An’ I don’t, eh? You’re new to this whole Alpha flight business, right? I’ve learned over time to let whatever is bothering Marry to let her work it through. There is a time to let friends in and there is also a time when that person has to do things on her own.”

“I guess, Puck.”

Dei Guan kept staring at the lake waters and saw some bubbles arising on the surface of the water. Then, suddenly, and without any warning whatsoever, the beaten form of Marrina was hurled from the lake to the beachfront property. She was obviously in a fight underwater.

“What the--?!?”

“Who could have done that to Marry?”

Rising out of the water to fight them, the two remaining members of Beta Flight, and to defeat Marina, to finish what they started, was Omega Flight.

“Looks like the shit has just hit the fan,” Puck exclaimed, as he launched into battle to be met with Strongarm. Strongarm’s extended arm lashed and bashed at Puck, hurling the diminutive Alphan against a tree.

Tech-noir fired her machine gun arm at Dei Guan, preventing him from changing into the Jade Dragon, knocking him out.

The rest of Omega Flight picked up the sleepy and groggy Marrina and brought her to their ship.

“Now, you belong to the Master,” Tech-noir said.

The Alpha Complex

After the brief fight with Omega Flight, Puck and the Jade Dragon woke up from the punches and knockout darts that propelled them into dreamland and contacted Mr. Gentry and Alpha Flight. Gentry assembled the team.

As Gentry explained to them their new mission, Walter had returned from the underground lab and had explained to his wife what had happened to him. Before he came back to the Alpha Complex, Walter had changed into regular clothes.

“What ‘as ‘appened to yoo?”

“I tried, Aurora, I really tried, but I guess we were both fooling ourselves. I’m Sasquatch and Sasquatch is me. One of these days one of our enemies was going to find out what Hudson did to me and undo what he has done.”

Aurora hugged Walter, consoling him in their hour of need. “I know you and I both wanted this more than anything else in the world, but I am truly so;rry, now.”

“So am I.”

Walter hugged her back and when they were done, they returned to the board meeting.

“I think we need to find Bedlam and his lab,” Walter said, sitting down with his wife at the table.

“So do I,” Hudson said. “He still has my battlesuit, but what he doesn’t know is that I have plenty of more in my closet, like the one I am wearing now.”

Gentry stood up and approached the podium. “Before we find them, our first order of business is to find Omega Flight and the Master of the World and discover what he wants with Marrina.”

There were cheers and applause from the rest of Alpha and Beta Flights.

Heather turned to Judd and said, “Eugene, you were there when they attacked you, so what do you suggest?”

Judd looked at the love of his life that will never be. “Well, they attacked me, Dei, and Marrina while we were talking by Lake Ontario so I think that his ship should be moored there. I say we go there and bring back our lost Betan.”

All Alphans raised their arms and shouted, “Alphans Attack!”
