In the remains of the J-C Building and Llan's skyscraper HQ, the Dream Queen sat at the desk, with her feet propped up on the desk top. She had ensnared Alpha Flight and all its compartments with the single body in a dream like state that defied description. "How goes your plan, my love?" Llan asked her, the daughter of Nightmare. The Dream Queen cooed like the love child she was. "Perfectly, Llanny. Just like before but now I feel more powerful than ever. I have encased them in a dream that will change their lives forever. It will simply leave them crippled." "Good, good, good. Then, we will destroy them. I see that you've targetted Lillian Crawley and Puck. They may be the strongest of Alphans, but they have the weakest of wills. All the fighters have their fears, like Kamikaze and Wyre and Kane. What happens when I pit them against each other? Team-mate against team-mate. Brother against brother. Or sister against sister." "After we were captured, they were the weakest during the time of the wedding of Sasquatch and Aurora. With the addition of Bedlam, the Brain Blast, and Gamma and Omega Flights we shall beat them forever..." The Dream Queen began her mantra chanting and the nightmare slowly started...
The Alpha Complex Alpha Flight assembled in their headquarters for an emergency meeting put together by the head of Department H and their only tie to the Canadian Government. Around the main round meeting table sat Guardian, Vindicator, Puck, Shaman, Talisman, Sasquatch, Northstar, Aurora, and Snowbird. Behind them stood Madison Jeffries, Diamond Lil, Persuasion and Kamikaze who had returned successfully from his mission of bringing in the lost Brainwave to a Department H security prison. Mr. Gentry stood in the front of the room, with a stern expression upon his face. Mr. Gentry did not look happy and it was evident through all the faces of the team members. There was a palpable chill in the air even though the room temp was well above 85 degrees celsius. "I have called this meeting to decide what we are to do about the membership of the team." There was a frown on Gentry's face and there was not a smile amid all of the faces of the team. "It has been brought to my attention that the team is just way too big. I think we should discuss about which members should stay or which should leave. Okay. First off, let's see who is definitely leaving?" Diamond Lil raised her hand. "Madison and I will be on reserve status. We would like to start a family, maybe have a child. Also, Kamikaze has confided in me that he really doesn't see a place for him in the team, so he will be staying with us. You can call on us when this Evil Mystic thing unravels but until and after that, we will be as reserve members.' "Okay, next. Persuasion. You mentioned something about school?" Persuasion stepped forward. She looked nervous. "I would like to get my college degree before I devote myself to the team fully. I don't know why you called me in the first place. I will help in the final battle but the less the Sorcerer knows about my participation with this group the better." "I can live with that. And finally..." Snowbird stood up. "Also, I can only be called to fight the great mystical forces that plague the land Canada. I will assist in the battle with Pestilence and the others. I will also accompany Shaman and Talisman on their vision quest to find the Evil Mystics. But I would rather be on reserve, too." "Well, good luck to you all. Even if you never use your powers again, you're going to need it in this crazy world we live in. The rest of the members will be the main Alpha Flight team." The meeting was adjoined. It was a time at Alpha Flight's history when they would usually be faced with their greatest fight of their lives; the triple threat of Llan, the Sorcerer, the Dream Queen, and Pestilence. But a couple days ago, since Snowbird, Shaman, and Talisman are the only mystical beings in the Alpha ranks they would be best suited to deal with this danger to not only Canada but to the world at large. They made it quite clear to Guardian and Gentry that they wouldn't be returning to the ranks of Alpha Flight for the foreseeable future, except for Shaman. He felt that there should be at least one mystical being on the team. The rest would be on reserve status. Most of the team said in discreet terms that they feel like second stringers to the team. For instance, Diamond Lil and Madison Jeffries would be concentrating on marital affairs. Madison feels that he can't trust Lil anymore with her obsession with Kamikaze. He would like to patch up their marriage. So they would be leaving the team for the time being. Kamikaze said that he would be leaving also. He said that he only remained on the team for two specific reasons; to deal with the AIM threat and because Lillian wanted to reform him. He explained in no uncertain terms that he felt that he was more of a burden to the team than not. He would return when the team needed him, if that. Persuasion is leaving to return to the university at Etoboke. He said that she wished that Gentry hadn't contacted her in the first place because she was getting quite used to being a purple skinned college student. But she would return if needed. Marrina changed her mind about returning to the team. She thought that it was a good idea at the time but she felt that it was her duty to inform Namor of her return from the dead and to join with her new son, Maaken in Atlantis. She also felt she belonged more there than in Canada. Gentry agreed on the new team. There would be no Beta Flight, only if there were new mutants in Canada to be recruited. But he didn't see that in the foreseeable future. Alpha Flight would consist of Guardian and Vindicator sharing the duties of leadership, Puck, Aurora, Sasquatch, and Northstar.
He is here. The one that I seek. The one that used to be called Weapon X. Now he is simply called Kane, after his real name. Garrison Kane. He thinks that he is a member of the Canadian team that I once belonged to, Alpha Flight, but he is wrong. Like the Punisher, I hunt the guilty. The ones that could kill other innocents. Now I hunt Kane. Who am I, you ask? I'm Wyre. And this man is dead. I approach the Alpha Complex on the wedding day of Sasquatch and Aurora. I come as a guest but Kane does not deserve to be here as a guest, too. He is a killer. He worked for A.I.M. He attacked Wolverine and Deadpool many times. He is a merc. But I wonder what exactly is his angle with joining a team like Alpha Flight. I can understand Alpha letting him into their ranks, since their other newest member, Kamikaze, has recently departed, they told me. I shall put an end to that. Permamently. He stands on a grassy knoll, overlooking the Complex. He seems nervous, whether or not he should join the other party guests. I know I shouldn't start a fight but I know I will. "You know I can't let you go in there," I say to Kane. "Does this mean we have to fight? I thought we ended this years ago." "For your kind, it never ends." "What is that supposed to mean? Your kind? We're both white and Canadian, so it can't be a black thing. Oh, I get it. You mean my chosen occupation. That I was once a merc, paid assassin like Kamikaze was. Well, that lifestyle has ended for me. I'm a hero now. " "Your kind never changes." "Again with the your kind. You're beginning to sound like a broken record." "YAAAHHHH!!!!" I shout as I put aside my good morals and resort to violence. I let the animal within me rise to the fore in the bloodlust that is mine to command. But Kane is quicker than me. He shifts to the side and avoids my attack. Instead of punching me, he takes out his metal claws and swipes me with one of them. I hurt from the impact. He draws blood. Not the brightest of moves on my part to try to roll with the swipe instead of avoiding it completely. "Stop it, Wyre!! I don't want to fight you!!" "Give me one good reason!" "There is a wedding here today. It may not mean much to you but it means something to me. I want to be a part of the Alpha Flight family. Kamikaze did, too. But it didn't work for him. It could've. If he didn't become so romantically involved with Diamond Lil. Let's just call it quits and save the fight for another day, okay?" Kane withdrew both of his metal claws. With the claws, he looked like Wolverine on acid. "Agreed. We have a wedding to get to." The two superhumans shook hands and that settled that. London, Canada Kamikaze stood over the remains of the A.I.M. headquarters. Months ago, it had vanished due to the Teleportals that the Scientist Supreme used to teleport his HQ away to as safe place. This disturbed Harada. He wanted to end this A.I.M. business once and for all. He suspected that A.I.M. were rebuilding their forces and the A.I.M. agents, including the Faux Alpha Flight could be broken out of the Canadian prison soon. A wedding like the one with Sasquatch and Aurora was too easy a time for them to make their move. Suddenly, all his senses were on alert. He sensed danger. But it wasn't a danger that he recognized of combatting before. An energy bolt struck the ground where he was standing and Kamikaze was sent flying in the opposite direction. It wasn't an energy bolt as he previously thought, but a mind bolt conceived of pure psychic energy. So in essence, it was a psychic energy bolt. Whatever. He looked at the group of four figures that had seemingly appeared out fo thin air, nowhere. The first figure, who apparently was the leader of the bunch, was horribly disfigured, with gray skin that was wrinkled all over. He wore a golden helmet, a golden body armor, and a ripped cape. "And who are you supposed to be?" Kamikaze asked of the man. "I am Bedlam and these are my Derangers, Breakdown, Freakout, and Janus. " "And you want what again?" "The total destruction of Alpha Flight!" "Doesn't everyone nowadays? I mean, after that Llan business." "Jokes will get you nowhere and noplace. Die, Kamikaze!!" Bedlam fires another mind blast at Kamikaze, not just upsetting the groundwork but this time, entering his brain, his highly analytical brain. To hide from the intrusion, Kamikaze retreated within his own mind, so that Bedlam wouldn't have anything to work with. He fell into unconsciousness. "Pick him up, Freakout," Bedlam commanded to the strongman of the group. "We will deliver him to Alpha Flight and then, we will have our creator, James Macdonald Hudson, the one called Guardian, and his bitch of a wife, Heather MacNiel Hudson, the one called Vindicator, who killed me once before." Laughter filled the air.
Etobicoke, Canada In the Killgrave household, Kara Killgrave was in her room getting dressed for the wedding of Sasquatch and Aurora. She was one of bridemaids at the wedding and she had to look simply resplendant in her gown. Whitman Knapp was waiting for her in the next room. He was dressed in his black tuxedo. When she was done dressing herself, she exited her room and walked into the next room, saying to Manikin, "So, how do I look?" "Kara, there is an expression that it is bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding, but I wonder how that applies to bridemaids." "Whit, I'm serious!" "Well, seriously then, you look fantastic. And I do mean that, from the bottom of my heart." He took out a blue box and opened it. On the outside was an engagement ring. He got down on one knee. "Kara Killgrave, since this is the season for marriages, will you marry me?" Kara touched her purple face. "Oh, Whit, I don't know what to say." "Then, say yes, Kara." Kara paused. Then, she said, "Oh, yes, yes, yes. Of course, I'll marry you, Whitman Knapp." Whit stood up, placed the ring on her middle finger, and kissed her deeply. All good things must come to an end. "Y'hear somethin', Kara?" "No, why? Should I?" There was an incredible explsoion just then and Bedlam and the Derangers burst through the front doorway. "Don't worry, Kara, I'll take care of him." Whitman Knapp transformed into his apeman self. He threw a punch in the general direction but Freakout caught it. He started to squeeze on Apeman's hand, applying pressure, and then let go. "Bedlam and the Derangers?! I thought you guys were dead," he said, as he transformed back into Whitman Knapp. "Before Pestilence attacked Alpha Flight, he resurrecetd us." "Lucky for us." "Breakdown, you know what to do." "Yes, master." The once housewife used her mutant power to cause spontaneous combustion to create explosions around her body. At the very last minute, Persuasion used her pheromones to convince Breakdown to lessen her explosions. It worked. Manikin and Persuasion were saved from the brunt of the explosion. They fell asleep. Satisfied that was a job well done, Bedlam and his Derangers teleported away. "It looks like we better warn Alpha Flight," Manikin said, as they both woke up. "C'mon, soon-to-be-hubbie-o'-mine," Persuasion said, "Let's go!" But they had no time to spring into action, as Talisman brought them all out of the dream state, sensing the danger.
