Sasquatch was upset. He couldn't believe this was happening. He had been calling the hospital because he feared that something was wrong. He didn't know what but he felt that something just didn't sit right with Dr. Donald Jenkins and his lack of a staff in that place of healing. It seemed too easy. So he was going to investigate it in the form of his super hero identity. He first thought that it would be wise to contact Alpha Flight, including Beta Flights and Delta Flights. But it looked like they were both busy now. He didn't know exactly what had deterred them but once this was over and done with, he would be glad to become part of their ranks once again. Clenching his both fists together, he punched a whole in the side of the wall to the right of the entrance of the hospital. This was going to be short and sweet. He could take this Dr. Jenkins character with one arm tied behind his back and blindfolded, too. But then, how hard could one doctor be? Not hard at all, he wagered. By looking through the window, Sasquatch saw that the room that he entered through was Jenkins' office. He seemed to be in the middle of a session with Aurora. But something was wrong as he feared. She seemed to be in the center of a trance. Perhaps hypnosis. Doctors did that to dull the pain centers. "What's up, doc??" Sasquatch said, facetiously, as he entered the room, rubble all around him. "You're due for some serious pain!" Sasquatch punched Jenkins as hard as he could in the mouth, hurling the doctor across the room, hitting the opposite wall. Walter was flabbergasted that the good doctor wasn't dead, or at least injured. In fact, he seemed to be laughing at him. "You think this is funny?!" Sasquatch asked, as the doctor had a laughing attack. "Ruining lives, taking advantage of defenseless females. That's my wife you manhandled, bub." "She is perfectly safe, Walter," Jenkins said. "I have mentally placed her in a stasis sleep. She will awaken soon. Sadly, tho, I couldn't free of her multiple personality disorder. That's permament. Ah, too bad. Sucks to be her." "You bastard!!" Sasquatch threw another punch but this time it was halted in air by a wave of mental power. "What are you doing to me?" "Stopping you of course." "Who are you?" Donald Jenkins changed his form to Bedlam, the Brain Blast. "I have probed your precious Aurora's mind and have garnered enough information to destroy you and Alpha Flight forever." Bedlam waved his arm, mentally transforming Sasquatch into Walter Langkowski and snapped his fingers, bringing Aurora out of her trance. "Face it, Walter. You and your little band of Alpha Flighters can't stop me and my Derangers. So go on home and wait for our next plan of humiliating you." Walter growled. "Fine. You may have won this round, but you haven't won the war." "Like I care," Bedlam said. "You can't stop me. I've destroyed Alpha Flight before. And I will do it again. Look how easily I transformed you from lowly Walter Langkowski to powerful Sasquatch, curing you of your ills. What can you do to stop me from my mad plans? What can you or your pathetic simpleton of a wife do? She is powerless, when she is not connected physically with her brother, Northstar, to create the lightshow that can blind even White Light." Sasquatch smiled. "I thought you were a telepath." "What?? No!!!!" There was a horrible crash, as the glass from the window pane exploded from outward to spread it inward in the office of Bedlam. The Brain Blast turned to the source of the noise and saw the arriving Beta Flight. The one to break the glass was Kane, followed by Wyre firing bullets from his murderous machine gun, the Jade Dragon with his fiery dragon breath, and Marrina's claws slashing at his cape. Kane led the charge, extending his claws on each hand, heading straight for Bedlam's mishapen head. He connected, slashing this way and that, until all that was left of it was a gnarled mass, full of blood and brains. Bedlam collapsed and fell dead to the floor. "We're not done, yet, Betans and Alphans," Kane said, turning his head to the side as Freakout slammed the door open to see what the commotion was all about. He was soon followed by Breakdown and Janus. They didn't want to fight them. Only to see about their dead leader. Freakout picked up Bedlam and slugged him over his shoulder. There was a burst of mystical energy and Talisman entered the room through a portal. She said, "It's over. Bedlam is dead and with him gone, they have no one left to serve. I bet they want to go back to their homeworld. I shall provide that escape for them." She gestured and the four beings disappeared. Sasquatch approached Talisman. "What about this hospital? What happens to it now?' "It was nothing more than an illusion. With Bedlam dead and gone, it will fade into obscurity." And with that, just as Talisman explained, the hospital that purported to cure Aurora had vanished.
The J-C Building (newly built) Jerry Jaxon was perturbed. He couldn't believe it. He held the newspaper in front of his face, reading the headline. Bedlam was dead. Alpha Flight had claimed responsibility. With him gone, then his Alphan and Omegan slaves would be free of the thrall that Bedlam held over them. They could destroy him. The door crashed open and Gamma Flight came in; Flashback, Smart Alec, Box, and Scramble. Roger Bochs in his Box armour punched Jerry Jaxon in the face, popping his head completely off. It crashed out the window and fell onto the streets below. But the robot body didn't die just yet. Since it wasn't alive to begin with, it couldn't die at all. It attacked Gamma Flight. Flashback was the first one to retaliate. He created a virtual army of Future Men to punch and kick at Jaxon. He kept this up for several minutes until it looked like Jaxon couldn't take any more. Scramble used his flesh-bending powers to extend his hand in a transmorphic spear that gutted the Jaxon robot destroying him/it. "What the hell is going on here?" the Delphine Courtney robot said, as she entered the room, hearing the commotion from outside. She was wearing a red cocktail dress and nothing more. She looked like sexy, good enough to kill right now by Gamma Flight. "I'll take care of her," Box said as he lifted the robot in the air above his head and threw her onto the waiting streets below. They all heard a loud crash below. "That looks about the end of it. Jaxon and his secretary are gone." Roger Bochs phased out of the Box robot and landed in a wheelchair. He started to wheel himself towards the exit of the office. "Okay, I'll bite," Flashback said, taking off his mask, revealing the cool, calm features of Gardner Fox underneath. "What happens to us now? Since Bedlam is not controlling our minds anymore, should we join Alpha?" "Yeh, right," they said in unison. They all knew that Alpha Flight is already a team that is too big and they would be just be adding to those numbers. Mr. Gentry's Office Guardian, with his mask on his shoulders, entering the office of the team's liasion. Gentry had informed him that he had to talk to him urgently because of a matter that concerns the team's future. With Bedlam dead, it looks like they had to have a recruitment drive to see who would be on the team and who would not. "I know who you feel about this, Dr. Hudson, but it is not necessary to have a roster that it is in the double digits. Just look at the Avengers. Thor manages the team now and he keeps his roster into a manageable level even though the roster changes from time to time, depending on the villains that they face." "So, what are you saying? That you want me to downsize it a bit." "Exactly. I think the basics are good to start off with." Mac smiled. "Then, the first one to go is my wife. She has told me that she wants to start a family. She would like to have a child. I can help her in that respect. Also, I see that two people with similar powers are not needed on the same team. If she is agreeable, she could take a leave of absence, as would the rest. They would return from time to time, but would not be on the main team of Alpha Flight." Gentry agreed. "That would good for a start. Who else? How about the triple threat of Shaman, Talisman, and Snowbird? Aurora and Northstar? And Beta and Delta Flight?" Mac thought about this for a minute, then continued. "Northstar has made it quite clear that he doesn't want to be an Alphan anymore, or even a reserve member. He has quit for good, this time. And I also think that there is too much friction between Jean-Paul and Walter. So he goes, but I will bring in Aurora, Sasquatch, and Puck, for good measure. Shaman and Snowbird stay but I think I will keep Talisman on the sidelines. Llan and the Dream Queen are still a threat along with White Light. But when is the time to banish them to a place of her choosing, we will contact Liz. And I would like to add Marrina from Beta Flight." Mac saw that Gentry was pleased. The question of what to do with the two other sister Flights was still raised. He had to answer that quickly. "Well, Mr. Gentry, Beta Flight would be disbanded. Tho Dei Guan will be upset. He will learn to live with it. I know that he has gotten quite a crush on Marrina, but he can deal. Anyway, that team of Beta Flight is too much made up of loners. I learned my mistake by having someone like Wolverine on the team. And Delta? I will give them governmental protection from the FBI agents that are after them. I think one of Alpha Flight's many safe houses would work." Gentry laughed. "Welcome back, James. I think this team roster would be one of the best we have had so far, since the Flight's inception." Guardian was sitting in his study in his office when the Alpha Alert went off. Large klaxons sounded all throughout the Alpha Complex. Mac had a feeling what was wrong but right now he could only guess. Gentry in his pajamas raced into his study with worry upon his face. The rest of Alpha Flight were all in their costumes and they had also entered the study. What's this all about, eh?' Puck asked. "Is it another attack by Llan and the Dream Queen? Or what?" Shaman had concentrated and found the answer. "It's White Light. He's attacking Toronto. He's laying waste to the land and since we are the only super heroes in Canada, we have to stop him." "Kickin' butt time again," Puck said. "I would like to pound his face in again, like we did the last time." "I don't think that that would so easy this time around, friend Puck," Snowbird answered. "It seems that Llan has amplified his power considerably. He has become like unto a god, like the sorcerer himself." "What about his White Light Demons?" Marrina asked. "Last time he had those buggers fighting for him, or so I read about in the Alphanex files." "Those have been amplified too," Shaman responded, following his daughter's lead. "This may be the most important battle of our lives." "What's our plan of attack?" "Simple, Aurora, we hit him hard and fast and don't let him have a chance for escape." All of the Alpha Flight members raised their hands. "ALPHA ATTACK!!"
