Gentry | When Kamikaze walked through the door to the Alpha Complex, he got an uproarious greeting with applause and hoots and hollers from his former team-mates. He didn't even have time to take off his mask and relax properly in the combat room for a workout before they greeted him as only Canadian superheroes of their caliber could. “Welcome back to Canada , Kamikaze,' Guardian said, as he hoisted the ninja above his head and let him lay on his shoulders for the entire world to see. “We're glad you're home, and here to stay.” “Thank you, Hudson . Now could you please put me down?” he asked, as a request to not get air sick. “Yeh, hubbie o'mine,” Heather Hudson said, clad in her Vindicator costume. She seemed to be ready for a fight. Harada himself haven't seen her wear it in quite some time. “We don't want him to leave so suddenly again.” “Sorry, Mr. Harada.” Guardian gently put Kamikaze back on his two feet on the tiled floor. “I hope that wasn't too much of an inconvenience for you.” Kamikaze removed his mask. “Not at all. I didn't think that I was wanted to be among the ranks of Alpha Flight again. It looks like I am no longer to be considered an outcast.” “No matter what Mr. Jeffries says,” Hudson remarked. “You are welcome here. Now tell us all about your trip to America . Did you find all the answers that you needed.” “I went there to find answers of my past, but only got more questions. What happened was that I was attacked by a couple of enemies called Crossbones and the Captain and before long I was overcome. They placed a hypno-disc on my neck that caused me to attack Captain America , the very person I wanted to contact about my late father. Next I knew I was searching for Cap, attacked a group of super powered drug dealers called the Drug Mutants, and was going toe-to-toe with Captain America himself. All of these events I am relating to you are a blank to me because the disc caused short term memory loss in my brain but Cap was resourceful enough to tear the disc from my neck with his shield without causing much damage to my mind. He then convinced me to give up my idea of having a homebase in America and return to my Canadian roots.” “Wow,” Aurora said, in her thick French accent. “That ees some storee, Harada.” “You could say that again, Beaubier. But I am glad to be back to Alpha Flight.” Guardian stepped forward and placed a gentle hand on Harada's shoulder. “That is what I wanted to talk to you about. We have decided that since Marrina left Beta to be with Alpha, we would like you to lead Beta Flight. I mean you did such a good job of training them in Japan .” “It would be my pleasure.” As the rest of Alpha and Beta Flights left to be in their quarters, Kamikaze started to leave for the Combat Room to begin his workout, he heard his name being called by a familiar voice. “Going somewhere, Kamikaze?” the voice said. “Kane. I knew you would stop me sooner or later.” The two warriors faced one another. “What can I do for you, Kane?” Kamikaze asked his opponent. “You know that I am the leader of beta now and I can't let you take that position away from me. Kane follows the orders of no man.” “That may be so. But Guardian, leader of your parent team, gave me a direct order. Who am I to stand in his way?” “Who are you to stand in my way?” Kane snarled, and unsheathed his claws. He launched into battle. “Why don't you go home to Japan , you two-bit ninja?” “Sorry. No can do.” Kamikaze unsheathed his samurai sword and watched the sparks fly as Kane's claws slashed against the blade of his sword. “You need focus, leadership, more than you can give. You're a loose cannon, Kane, or should I call you ‘Weapon X'? You, along with that other loose cannon, Wyre.” “Wyre's wildness is my business and I'll deal with it, as I see fit. Who are you to tell me what to do and where?” Kamikaze kicked Kane in the solar plexus, hurling him against a back wall. Kane put his claws in his bionic housings. They both heard footsteps down the other end of the hallway and they halted their battle. “What's going on here?” Wyre asked. “Kane, you need help?” Kane spit out blood and stood up. “No. Just a friendly disagreement between friends. My bad.” Kamikaze put his sword in its holster slung on his back. “I want you two to find the Jade Dragon and meet me in the Combat Room. Your official training begins now.” Later Alpha Flight got an emergency call from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police that White Light had reappeared this time in Calgary at one of the most popular strip malls and was demanding for the super team to show up. “Doesn't this guy ever give up?” Sasquatch asked, as he flexed his muscles and punched a whole team of White Light demons into the wall. “I mean, how many times do we have to tangle with him and defeat before he gets the message?” “It doesn't matter how many of my demons you obliterate, Langkowski, I can create millions more and kill you outright.” White Light bathed Sasquatch in pure energy causing him to change back into his human form. “I hate it when he does that,” Walter said. “So do moi,” Aurora said. She flew circles around White Light, trying to confuse the villain. White Light fired beams of laser light at the French woman but she evaded it with ease. “Snowbird, you have to do something about that. She can't keep that maneuver for long,” Walter remarked. “Of course, Walter, but I do not know how much good it will do,” Narya responded. She changed into a white artic owl and used her claws to slash at White Light's eyes and costume. “Enough, godling,” White Light said. He grabbed the owl, throwing it at a glass case full of jewelry. “I have proven myself enow, babe.” There was a sudden gust of wind and another god appeared. Llan surveyed White Light's handiwork, opening a portal to another dimension and sweeping Alpha Flight into it. Then, with a thunderclap, all was silent. “We have triumphed, Sorcerer,” White Light said gladly. “Now, we can destroy the rest of the team.” “Not so fast, White Light. Beta, Gamma, and Delta Flights would be wondering what has happened to the real Alpha Flight. So, I have devised a way to use a duplicate team of Alpha to do our bidding for us.” Llan gestured and before their very eyes appeared the Faux Alpha Flight. Haunting laughter could be heard throughout the mall. Somewhere Else There was a nimbus of energy. Light flashed all over the barren landscape and several figures appeared. These figures were the colorful members of the team Alpha Flight. “Where are we?” Guardian asked. “This is the homeworld of the Dream Queen. It is called Live World,” Shaman said. “This is where I was imprisoned lo those many moons ago when I was replaced by Pestilence masquerading as I. And without my daughter forming a portal to find us home, we are stuck here.” “Can't you use your medicine pouch to cause a rift to take us home, Michael?” ‘I am not as powerful as my daughter. It is best if we journey over that cliff and see who else is here with us.” “Shaman, I am not as familiar with Live World or the villains that inhabit it.” “The only one mystic that has a true understanding of this world is my daughter, Talisman. She is the chosen one.” The barrenness of Live World seemed endless and when they had come to a clearing where there was once a city, another nimbus of energy appeared. Within that nimbus of energy there was a woman with green hair and white skin. “Dream Queen!!” Shaman yelled and reached into his pouch and hurled vines at her to entrap her. But all it did was pass right through her. “What have you done to us?” The daughter of Nightmare laughed aloud. “I have done nothing. I have just allowed Llan to teleport you people to my homeworld. And without Talisman's help, there is no escape for you. And furthermore, I have teleported more villains of your recent past ton tangle with you.” She vanished as the wind blew through her image. “I do not like this,” Snowbird remarked. “Look, over there, in the distance,” Guardian pointed over the hill. It was a very familiar ship that drew ever closer to Alpha Flight. The hatch opened and a team of villains and one leader exited through it. “Oh no, it can't be! But it is—it is!! The Master and Omega Flight!!” Marrina screamed. She had just finished fighting them over the summer when the Master had concocted clones of Marrina and a virtual army of the Plodex. The Master drew his cape closer to his body. “The Dream Queen said that the only for us to get back home, to Earth, was to kill Alpha Flight. So be it. Attack them, my Omega Flight!!” |
