Issue #28 "What If Onslaught had defeated Shadow King?"
|
|
|
Onslaught sat on a throne of bones constructed from his fallen opponents. He ruled over the entire globe with an indomitable force. No one of any importance was left to oppose him and his forces now or ever. The 12 mutants destined to destroy the abominable Apocalypse were within him and their power was his. En Sabah Nur was no longer a problem because he lay dead in the desert of the Sahara. Ironic he died where he started his fruitless Darwinian philosophy. Onslaught had destroyed Amahl Farouk, better known as the Shadow King, long ago in a fierce battle. The forces of Hydra, which he took over after Shadow King's death, had annihilated Genosha with ease. Magneto was among the many that fell during the surprise attack. The mystics of the planet were all gone due to his absorbing of Dr. Strange and Dr. Doom. Now he was prepared to expand his empire to the stars. It was there his true destiny laid. Once the universe was his he would start it over again in his image. "Come to me my Dark Warriors," Onslaught commanded strongly and from behind him five figures appeared. These five were one branch of his organization of generals. The other branches were the Black Soldiers, Doombringers, and the Acolytes. The 5 generals of the Dark Warriors were Alastaire, Songbird, Omega Red, Siryn, and Sersi. All of them bowed before their master. "Did you summon us master?" Alastaire asked. His allegiances had once been to Apocalypse, but after his death he quickly changed sides. Alastaire knew it was useless to try and fight against the wave that was Onslaught. He now possessed the Ebony Blade as a prize he procured from Dane Whitman, the Black Knight. It had been a pleasure to kill that self-righteous hero along with Karnak and She-Hulk. Onslaught had been pleased so far with this particular solider. He had proven himself worthy and his loyalty was true. "Yes, I summoned you because I want to see how the progress of my space fleet is going. And I also want to know how my invasion army progresses," Onslaught said. Songbird stepped forward in front of the rest of her equals. "We have 45 ships prepared for your fleet and Dark Beast reports that your invasion army presently numbers 20,000. In a couple of days we should have achieved our goals," Songbird said a smile on her face. "Perfect. Just perfect," Onslaught said. Tibet "So you're telling me that we've had the means to victory hidden here for years!" Mystique exclaimed to Wolverine as she continued her descent down the stairs in the barely lit cave. Behind her were Kaine, Pyro, Puma, Vargas, and Titania. They were one of the last pockets of resistance against Onslaught though he barely paid any attention to them. Nor did they really do any harm. "That's exactly what I'm saying Raven. There are ten people down here who will turn the tide against Onslaught and lead to his destruction. That I can promise," Logan said as he puffed on a cigar. They were getting more and more rare so Wolverine savored the ones he was able to get. The cigars sort of soothed him in a way. "You mind telling us who these ten people are?" Vargas asked annoyed. He wanted to be out on the battlefield and not adding a couple of miracle soldiers to a pretty much hopeless battle. He long ago accepted that Onslaught was not going to be defeated. It was after Psylocke was murdered by Holocaust and Craze. "They're Mutant Forger, Thor, Sinister, Gamemaster, Clea, Adam Warlock, Jennifer Kale, Electro, Abyss, and Gravitron. Each one of them will be key to our victory against Onslaught," Logan said. Mystique walked up to Logan and slapped him as she said, "YOU mean to tell me that you've had a proverbial army down here and you never said anything! Rogue and Kurt died because of you and your little secret. Was it worth it Logan?" Kaine stepped in front of Mystique and replied, "Of course Raven. Do you know whom we're talking about here? Sinister and Thor alone would give me a reason to hope. Of course it was worth it! I would lay down my life to see these ten freed." "I hope they're all you claim them to be Kaine because honestly I gave up on victory a long time ago," Vargas said. "Trust me Jigoku. The decks are just beginning to stack up against Onslaught. We have quite a few more aces up our proverbial sleeve," Logan smiled as they neared the door to the chamber that the ten heroes were locked in. Trinidad Holocaust, leader of the Black Soldiers, stepped up to the computer console and tapped away at the keys. He hated computers. They were all loathsome and tedious, but he had someone important to contact. Someone that would help him to create a new age on Earth after the death of Onslaught. His name was Kuragari and he ruled over the Crimson Dawn Dimension. "Bout time you got in touch Holocaust. I thought you had forgot about me," the shadow being smiled revealing white teeth that Holocaust didn't know he possessed. "How could I forget about someone like you? So are your forces primed for battle?" Holocaust asked. Truthfully, he didn't care much for idle chatter and he wanted to get straight to the point. He knew Kuragari wouldn't mind. "I can't believe you wasted the breath to ask me that! Of course my forces are ready to engage Onslaught at a moment's notice. Don't ever doubt that. Besides once Onslaught is out of the way I will have a firm root in Earth 616," Kuragari said. "Indeed. I'm about to take my bath though so I shall speak to you later," Kuragari said as his image vanished off the communication screen. "Royalty," Holocaust mumbled as he left the communication room
back to where the rest of his Black Soldiers were. Bloodscream, Karma,
Domina, and Gambit would begin to wonder where he went off. He couldn't
have them suspecting anything or else all his hard work would go down
the drain. Down the drain and into a worthless sewer. Cuba "I've just been informed that Wolverine and the gang have reached the chamber," Forge said as he entered into a room where Husk, Bullet, and Artie awaited his announcement. A cheer went up in the room at the news. "Once those guys are released we'll have Asgard and Olympus at our sides. Onslaught doesn't stand a chance," Husk exclaimed. "Despite all the forces we have remember that Onslaught his far from a weakling. His telepathic power alone could devastate armies," Forge reminded. "Party pooper!" Artie shouted loudly. Before Forge could give him a scolding red lights began to flash all over the base accompanied with a blaring noise. "The alarms! We're under attack! Battle stations," Forge commanded
as he took off down the hall towards the nerve center of the base. From
there he could see who their attackers were. Quickly Wolverine tapped the keys that gained him and his entourage access to the chamber where ten people that represented a great hope where being held. "Designate Wolverine what is your command?" a computer echoed throughout the chamber. "Prosh execute plan A12," Wolverine said simply. Prosh's intelligence and programming had been reduced a great deal after Onslaught got a hold of Greymalkin II. Forge was repairing Prosh, but before he could finish his powers were snatched away by Amora, the turncoat Asgardian. Throughout the room there was a great whizzing sound and the ground split open. Out of the earth rose 10 containers of large size. Then there was another whizzing sound and the doors to the chambers opened. "Plan A12 is completed Designate Wolverine. Other orders?" "None at this time Prosh. Thanks," Wolverine said half in awe
at the moment that was taking place. The scales in the war against Onslaught
had just equaled out a little more. Earth 616 Supreme Evolutionary put his face in his hands and sighed deeply. After a few moments of that he leaned back into his seat and took in a deep breath. Deathbird walked into the room and inquired, "What's wrong Evolutionary? I would hardly expect you to be the type to panic. Is the Celestial Piece not in this universe you're looking at?" "Not at all woman. The Celestial Piece is indeed in this universe. It's just whom we have to get it from that's the problem. A colossal problem," Supreme Evolutionary complained as he wringed his hands together tightly. "Come now Evolutionary. At least we know whom we have to get it from. In that other universe with the Patrol Force we don't even know who has the piece. I don't see why you're so worked up honestly," Deathbird said haughtily. She felt she would be better suited in conducting this search. Supreme Evolutionary had a tendency to bitch. And the Shi'ar royal was not too kind when it came to bitches. "You stupid idiotic woman. The piece is in Onslaught! We have to
take the piece from damn Onslaught!" |
