Steve Rogers sacrificed his life to become a soldier, to undergo the experimental Super-Soldier treatment and become Captain America. Armed with an unbreakable shield and an unwavering faith in his country, Captain America fought during WWII until he was frozen in suspended animation. Discovered and revived by the Avengers decades later, Steve Rogers had every reason to quietly lay the shield down and retire. But threats to his nation, the world, to his values and beliefs continue to be threatened. There are always others willing to fight, but Steve Rogers has already made the sacrifice.
