Natasha
Romanova was formerly a Soviet spy, and wife to the Red Guardian
(Alexei Shostakov). After her husband supposedly died as a pilot
(a cover), she became a spy notorious throughout Russia. Her reputation
was such that she was sent to America to recover Anton Vanko,
the original Crimson Dynamo (who had defected and allied himself
with Ironman). She later teamed up with Hawkeye to battle Ironman,
before defecting to America. A former member of the Avengers,
joining with then-lover Hawkeye, Black Widow has established herself
as a hero in her own right, and was named leader of the Champions. |

Laynia
Petrovna is a Russian heroine, who was originally part of a group
(including her then-lover Yuri Petrovich/Crimson Dynamo and the
Titanium Man) who were sent to Los Angeles to capture the Black
Widow and return her to the USSR. There, they allied with Rampage
and the Griffin, and battled the Champions. Laynia, however, realized
that she was fighting on the wrong side, and defected to America,
leaving the Crimson Dynamo and her former allies behind. She has
joined the Champions and is currently involved with Bobby (Iceman)
Drake. She controls the mysterious dark force energy.

Bobby
Drake is also a founding member of the original X-Men. He has
control over ice, being able to transform water into ice, as well
as erecting solid ice forms with a silent mental command. Undergoing
extensive training with the original X-Men, Bobby left the team
(along with Warren) after the new X-Men were recruited. He has
since joined the Champions as a founding member of that team. |

Johnny
Blaze grew up with a father who was a stunt daredevil. When his
father died, he was raised by “Crash” Simpson, who
had his own traveling cycle show. When “Crash” was
dying of cancer, Johnny sold his soul to the Devil, in return
for “Crash” being cured of cancer. His cancer was
cured, but he died in a stunt. Only Roxanne’s love for Johnny
was able to prevent the Devil from taking Johnny’s soul.
But, in the process, Johnny was bonded with the demon Zarathos.
Due to this relationship, Johnny transformed into a flaming skeletal
form, calling himself Ghost Rider. Gradually able to control his
transformations, Johnny has continued his career as Ghost Rider,
and as a member of the Champions. |

Bill
Foster worked as a lab assistant for Hank Pym, becoming close
friends with Yellowjacket. Over the years, he worked closely with
Hank Pym, and learned a great deal about the Pym Particles (which
transformed Hank into Giant-Man/Goliath). Returning home to the
Los Angeles area (where he grew up), he transformed into Black
Goliath initially to help Luke Cage overcome the Circus of Crime.
A brilliant scientist in his own right, Black Goliath has also
started his own career as a super-hero, having worked with the
Champions on occasion, prior to joining the team.
