Greg Miller had decided to treat his friends, Brian Johnston, Stephanie, and Colleen, to a trip to the Met to see the Egyptian exhibit there. The Sarge had a meeting of Crisis and Sonik the day before that a crazy Pharaoh had robbed the Met of their valuable jewels on their exhibits. This Pharaoh was a King Tut type of character with a lot of gold jewelry dangling from his neck. The Sarge thought this was a job for Crisis and Sonik, super cops. As the two changed into their leather duds, Greg said good-bye to Stephanie and Brian to Colleen, their wives. Crisis and Sonik raced to the end of the hall where the Pharaoh was animating a tomb of mummies. “Stop it right there, Pharaoh,” Crisis said, as he fired his kinetic energies at him. The Pharaoh used the sarcophagus to deflect it and send it hurtling back at him. Sonik created a force field to dissipate it fully. Suddenly, a woman clothed in rags approached them, separating them from the Pharaoh. “I’ll help you get him. My name is Gypsy Woman and he wants me to be his bride.” “Then,
you better stand behind me, Gypsy Woman,” Crisis said. “I’ll
protect you.” “Do it, Gypsy Woman,” Crisis said, as he and Sonik stepped from performing her magic duty. Gypsy Woman gestured, creating spells and incantations, and eldritch energies lanced out of her fingertips. The energies surrounded the Pharaoh but the Egyptian ruler had powers of his own to deflect her own magics. A red beam lance out of his tiara and hit Gypsy Woman, stunning her. “No!” Crisis screamed. Then, all at once, the Pharaoh used his golden staff to teleport the Gypsy Woman and him back to Egypt. Crisis and Sonik lunged forward to where the teleportation energies were and passed into it, transporting them also to Egypt. Swirling energies and the shifting sands of time made them reappear in Egypt, where they landed next to a pyramid. The Pharaoh and Gypsy Woman were feet away going to his palace. Crisis groaned awake. “This has got to be the strangest case we’ve been on, Sonik,” Crisis said. “Yeah, this is definitely weird,” Sonik said. “I think we’re miles away from the Sarge and Stone of Code: Blue, so it looks like we are going to have to do this one on our own, without back-up.” “So what have we got here? A mad pharaoh who has a crush on a gypsy. And he’s holed up in that pyramid.” “That’s about it. Let’s go in there and see what’s what.” Agreeing with one another, Crisis and Sonik ventured into the pyramid for the adventure of their lives. Later, as they entered the pyramid, Crisis and Sonik walked down the long hallway, passing stone statues of past pharaohs. At the end of the pathway, they each saw that the Pharaoh was standing with Gypsy Woman, in a sort of marriage ceremony. Crisis knew that he and his partner Sonik had to stop this because with this marriage, the Pharaoh would gain the Gypsy Woman’s power and could therefore conquer the world. So the time to act was now. Crisis vaulted into action, upping his potential energy and transferring it onto kinetic energy. He tackled the Pharaoh, pinning him to the ground, as Sonik snapped the Gypsy Woman out of her stupor. The Pharaoh must been drugged her to allow them to marry. Sonik made the Gypsy Woman drink some water from the Pharaoh’s chalice. This seemed to have snapped her out of it. The drug had no effect when mixed with water. “C’mon, Gypsy Woman, we have got to get you out of here,” Sonik said. “I don’t know how long Crisis can hold the Pharaoh down.” “It looks like not for long,” she responded, as she pointed out to Sonik that the Pharaoh’s super mystical energies had hurled Crisis off his body. It looked like they had a genuine fight on their hands. “The only way to defeat him is to disarm him from his gold jewelry. His power comes from his jewels. You know what they say, his bling is his thing.” Then, Sonik opened his mouth wide and fired a blast of pure sonic waves at the chest of the Pharaoh. The Egyptian fell back against one of the mummy sarcophaguses. “Crisis, remove his bling. It is the source of his power. They must have mystical powers.” “Gotcha, Sonik. Will do.” Surrounding himself with a kinetic forcefield, Crisis reached for the Pharaoh’s gold jewels and swung them in the air. Sonik caught them. Then, Crisis punched the Pharaoh’s light out. “And stay down.” Gypsy Woman used her magical powers to transport her, Crisis, Sonik, and the bling back to the Met. After the treasures have been returned to the museum, Crisis and Sonik said their good-byes to the Gypsy Woman and left for their apartments. They changed into their civilian identities of Greg Miller and Brian Johnston. Stephanie Miller had set up a dinner date with the two couples at the Johnston apartment to celebrate Colleen’s return to her daily life. She had been in the hospital for several days now because she was attacked in her apartment by a burglar who was looking for her cop husband. When Brian visited her in her hospital he found out that the burglar worked for Ulf Ramon, and evil doppelganger of Crisis. With the real Crisis’ help, they defeated Ramon and sent him to jail. That put back the King Snake’s plans for a couple months since the King Snake created Ramon’s powers in a lab. As
the Miller couple walked up the steps to the Johnston apartment,
Greg carried a bouquet of red roses for Colleen. Stephanie rang
the doorbell. Colleen smiled, as they separated and took the flowers. “Oh, thank you, Greg, Stephanie. Here let me put these in water.” “No, let me help you,” Brian said, taking the flowers out of Colleen’s hands. “You look great, Stephanie, as always.” “Thank you, Brian.” Colleen led the Miller couple inside and they had a seat in the living room. Colleen softly disappeared into the kitchen, only to reappear moments later with a tray full of hors d’ouvres. Greg particularly liked the little red hot dogs that he dipped in spicy mustard. Stephanie had some celery sticks and broccoli stumps dipped in French dressing. After several minutes of eating the hot dogs and salad dippings, Colleen called the rest of her guests to the dinner table. She served a turkey breast with a honey glaze. “It is so good to see you up and about, Colleen,” Stephanie said. “And so soon after your hospital stay. You are looking back to normal.” “And I feel great,” Colleen said. “I have such great friends and my husband, too. I’m glad I have their support.” And they all ate their meal, knowing full well that Greg and Brian didn’t have a mission to occupy them for the time being. END |
