"THE DOG CLAN"

Greg Miller got a call from the Sarge and Stone of Code: Blue that he and Brian Johnston were to meet them at One Police Plaza that morning. The Sarge had a new mission for them. All he told Greg over the phone was that the new watchword was the Dog Clan.

An hour before he got the call, Greg and Stephanie Miller were in the act of making love, enjoying and exploring the contours of each other’s naked bodies. The phone call interrupted them but they could continue that later.

Greg called Brian Johnston who was watching late night television with his wife Colleen. They got dressed in their leather suits and met at the Miller apartment. After saying good-bye to Stephanie with a kiss, Greg drove Brian to the police station.

When they arrived at the station, they walked right through the front entrance to the meeting room with the rest of Code: Blue and the Sarge to lay the mission on them.

“What is, who is, the Dog Clan?” Greg Miller asked his economic superior. ‘I’ve never heard of them.”

“The Dog Clan is a street gang located in Harlem who are trying to expand their network into New York City proper. They composed of members Dog Man, Dog Boy, Dog Woman, Dog Girl, Dogg, and Dog Eat Dog,” the Sarge said, putting his cigar in his mouth.

“Now I know how they got their name the Dog Clan,” Brian Johnston said. “I see they have a dog motif.”

“That is not all,” the Sarge said, in between breaths. “They are employed by the King Snake. He mutated them with a synthetic drug to make them as strong as real ferocious dogs but keeping their human forms.”

“What is it with the King Snake and his synthetic drugs?” Greg Miller asked. “I know he is a drug dealer and he has access to the same synthetic drugs that mutated us but why does he have such a hatred for us? Every time we turn around, he has mutated someone else to be a thorn in our side.”

“That doesn’t matter now,” the Sarge said. “Until we can find out where the King Snake is located at, we can’t arrest him. Now all we can do is try to detain his agents of evil.”

“I guess,” Brian said sarcastically. “We do the grunt work and you lounge in your office.”

“Brian, don’t start,” Greg began.

The Sarge approached Johnston. “Listen, Sonik, don’t give me any more of your lip. Just do your job. No questions asked.”

“Easy for you to say,” Brian said under his breath.

“C’mon, Brian, let’s go,” Greg said, as he led Johnston out of the meeting room. “Listen, Sarge, we’ll do this. But one of these days, we are going to have to put an end to the King Snake’s machinations.”

As he closed the door on the Sarge and Stone, Greg knew in more ways than one that Brian Johnston was correct in his burst of anger.

Brian Johnston entered his apartment that he shared with his wife, Colleen. He was worried over the conversation he had with Greg Miller and the Sarge, with Stone of Code: Blue waiting in tow. If the Sarge is keeping information from him and Miller over what the King Snake is doing to them, then there could be trouble.

He wondered how the Sarge could know so much without being directly involved with the King Snake. The answers to these questions would have to come to the forefront soon, if they were to find the Sarge’s true motives in all this.

“Honey, you’re daydreaming,” Colleen Johnston said as Brian entered their apartment. “You’re a million miles away. What’s wrong?’

“It’s this thing with the Sarge. He’s keeping something from me and Miller. I just don’t know what it is yet. One of us, Greg or I, will have to find out soon enough,” Brian Johnston said to his wife, as he sat on their couch in the living room.

“Anything I can do to help?’ Colleen asked.

“Nothing much. Just be there for moral support.”

“That I can do,” Colleen said, as she wrapped her arms around Brian’s strong body.

It was then that a gang member had broke down their locked front door and prepared to attack Brian and Colleen Johnston. Johnston recognized the gang member as part of the Dog Clan from the mug shots at police headquarters. This must be Dog Man. He was dressed in a leather jacket and leather pants, like Johnston and Miller were.

Dog Man took out a shot gun and fired at the far wall. Johnston ducked and protected his wife Colleen with his own body. Brian took out his own gun, this time a service revolver, and fired several times at the chest of Dog Man. All he could was clip Dog Man’s shoulder. When the smoke cleared, Dog Man was gone and their apartment was in ruins.

“This has gone on far enough,” Brian said angrily. “Stone and the Sarge are keeping something from us. And I aim to find out what it is.”

Upon hearing about the attack on the Johnstons, Greg Miller immediately raced over to their apartment to see if they were all right. Colleen didn’t want to go to the hospital so soon after her last injury and Miller didn’t press the point.

‘We have to go after them, Brian,” Greg Miller said.

Greg put a hand on Brian’s shoulder. “Colleen can stay with Stephanie, while we find out what we can.”

Brian opened his closet and took out his leather uniform. He put it on. ‘Thank you, Greg. I really appreciate this.”

“Brian, be careful…” Colleen said as she wrapped her lithe arms around Brian’s body. “I care about you a lot and I love you. I want you to come home safe every night.”

“I will,” Brian responded. “This night and every night.”

Brian Johnston, as Sonik, opened the window to his apartment and used his grappling hook and tether rope to swing from rooftop to rooftop to Harlem where the Dog Clan was.

Back inside the apartment, Greg Miller helped Colleen pack an overnight bag and lock up after herself. Greg promised Colleen that he and Brian would pool their financial assets to pay for the damages to her apartment.

Greg put Colleen in a squad car and drove to his apartment across town. ‘Don’t worry, Colleen. I’m sure we can handle the Dog Clan. But just to be safe, I’ll call Code: Blue to offer us backup.”

Colleen tried to force a smile on her face. ‘Thank you, Greg. Thank you very much.”

What Greg told Colleen was not an out and out lie; he did believe that they could handle themselves in a battle against the Dog Clan. He just wondered at what point he would have to assist Code: Blue as back up, also. But his first job was to get Colleen with Stephanie with some added police protection.

Greg Miller agreed with Marcus Stone of Code: Blue fame that Brian Johnston was too personally involved with the case of the Dog Clan to have an objective stake in this. Miller suggested that he stay at home and care for Colleen, his wife.

Marcus Stone gathered some of the new members of Code: Blue like Ace In The Hole and Artillery Woman to help Crisis fight his battle with the Dog Clan. The Clan was hiding in a crack house in Harlem. Crisis knew that the Sarge was withholding information about the King Snake but that would have to wait til later.

The Dog Clan was the crack house, toking away on marijuana and snorting some coke to breathe in the relaxing but intoxicating drugs.

This could wait no longer as Crisis and Code: Blue crashed through the front door and prepared to fight the Dog Clan. Dog Woman was a beast of a woman and charged at Crisis. Crisis and the Dog Woman broke a table where the drugs were situated at. Greg Miller wanted nothing than this foul-smelling, large woman off him. Crisis punched her in the face several times until she faltered.

Marcus Stone took out his machine gun and fired at the jumping Dog Clan. He missed every time because he didn’t want them dead, only to frighten them. Dogg took out two handguns and shot at Stone’s bulletproof vest and armor. He stepped back but they kept on shooting at each other.

Artillery Woman had a wide and vast array of weapons at her disposal and knew she had to end this gun fight. She fired all around the Dog Clan, wounding them. Crisis disarmed them of their weapons and when Code: Blue came in to arrest them, Marcus Stone thanked Crisis for doing a good job. Crisis actually admitted that it was the work of Artillery Woman and Ace in The Hole that helped make the arrest.

Crisis felt he was one step closer to getting the King Snake. He just wondered what next was up the King Snake’s sleeve.
