PREVIOUSLY:

After immediately being sent on Oblivion’s missions to retrieve the Fenghuang feathers, Eye-Scream and Spectra found themselves in a world where the heroes the two had grown accustomed to had become older, and newer heroes garbed in their honor had now become the norm. Upon meeting this reality’s Avengers, Eye-Scream and Spectra had sadly become their enemies and had broke into a fight upon hearing the feather’s location was in the Avengers’ mansion. Retrieving the feather with the aid of one of the Avengers, Bluestreak, Eye-Scream quickly took a liking to the swift mutant and grabbed her into the returning home portal, effectively bringing her with him. Returning to Oblivion, Eye-Scream found out that Oblivion himself placed the feather in this reality and his true motives are beginning to unravel.

“Becca…? Blue?”

Walter Goodwill could have sworn that his best friend, Becca Eidelman, also known as Spectra and his new found one, Bluestreak, were with him when he entered Oblivion’s dimension known as the Outer Void.  Perhaps refusing to search for these idiotic feathers wasn’t exactly the brightest idea. “Where are they?!”

“They are not of my concern,” bellowed Oblivion, “To console you, I have transported them to your reality.”

Eye-Scream raised his voice angrily, “How the hell should I trust that? That dumb feather isn’t anything you said it was, was it?”

Oblivion remained emotionless, “….No. It was not.”

“Tell me what the hell is going on, right now! If you’re going to kill me here, I have a goddamn right to know.” Eye-Scream’s hands were shaking as he finished those words.

“Very well.”

Oblivion raised his arm as suddenly reality around them began to twist and turn, reshaping into what appeared to be a million identical earths. They now stood atop a floating piece of earth, as it hovered above the countless planets below them.

“Trippy,” Eye-Scream muttered, his eyes dilating at the sight before him. He turned to Oblivion as he began to speak.

“You see, Walter Goodwill, in every reality, in every single alternate earth in every possible dimension – you do nothing of significance. Your only action of importance was your would-be attempt to destroy the mutant group known as the X-Men.”

Oblivion waves his hands around in a slow, twirling motion as the earths below them begin to conglomerate into a single large Earth.  The Earth then begins to sputter in electrical voltage as a figure of a man appears. Eye-Scream clenches his teeth and under his breath mutters, “Eddie.”

“Eddie Canon, on the other hand, is your complete opposite when regarding multiple dimensions. The Host, as he calls himself can, upon his own death, take on another person’s form and live on in that person, killing that other in the process.”

Oblivion pauses for a moment, “The Host in every dimension he lives in gives me countless souls to my Outer Void. He lives on forever in every reality and can never truly die, yet he does have a weak point.” Oblivion waves his hand again as the head of Eddie begins to multiply around the giant earth, “Eddie’s very soul is so delicate that after so many body jumps he and all of his alternate reality counterparts are now inadvertently connected.”

“You’re losing me, Bliv,” Eye-Scream states, folding his arms.

“If one of them is to actually have a finite death,” Oblivion continues as suddenly all of Eddie’s heads just simply fade away along with the giant Earth, “Then all of them would die.”

“Not seeing a problem here,” Eye-Scream correctly theorizes, “Seems like the age old ‘hit two birds with one stone’ thing. Except….like. Loads more.”

“The problem is that of you, Walter Goodwill. Your existence in your home reality is an anomaly. According to the rules of the very universe, you do absolutely nothing. Deviating from what is universally the same in every reality is causing ripple effects and because of this, I cannot read the actual fate of the Host. Should he and all of his counterparts die, all of the souls that he brings me would cease and people who would have died, would live. All realities would be altered beyond repair. All…because of you.”

“Eddie’s a fucking monster. You’re just mad that you can’t get Galactus sized Happy Meals on all of the souls he brings you anymore when he goes,” Eye-Scream points at Oblivion, his voice louder in tone, “But that still doesn’t explain those feathers.”

“Merely a ruse. With you gone on inane quests, I could further study and rectify what you had damaged and an added bonus…would be your death.”

“And me without a thank you card,” Eye-Scream retorts, “Why not just kill me yourself?”

Oblivion pauses again, “I rarely kill for my own souls. I only do so if things are completely out of my control…like now.”

Oblivion raises his hand to Eye-Scream as he begins to back away. “Wait! Stop!”

“There is no reason too, Walter Goodwill. You are a stain on the entire multiverse and must be cleansed.”

“What if I…what if I stopped looking for Eddie?”

“The damage you have already done has escalated too far already. Your reality’s Host is in true danger of perishing.”

Eye-Scream couldn’t believe he was at a loss for words for once in his life. Staring at the hooded Oblivion with intent of death in his gleaming eyes was by the far the scariest thing he had ever seen in his life.

“Please…just. Just give me four days. To say goodbye to everyone. Please…”

Oblivion paused again as Eye-Scream only stared in his direction. Oblivion’s eyes gave no indication of any emotion or answer.

“…Three Days. Use them well.”

Oblivion snapped his fingers yet again as Walter Goodwill simply vanished from view.

“Oof!”

Becca Eidelman landed with a plop on what appeared to be hard concrete ground. She immediately felt the pain from the fall as she began get back onto her feet. Rubbing her behind as she managed to regain her composure she suddenly felt a sudden weight on her back as she yet again was on the ground, this time as a cushion for Bluestreak’s fall.

“Get. Off. ME.” Becca yelled, forcefully pushing Bluestreak off of her.

“Hehe, sorry,” Bluestreak said, quickly getting to her feet, “I didn’t know I had to maneuver my body while uncontrollably falling from a portal.”

Becca managed to get up to her feet again as she stretched her body from the bruises. “Don’t be a wise ass…uh, what is your real name by the way?”

“Blue. You can call me Blue,” Blue said, stretching her arms and legs as well.

“Fitting,” Becca said, just then realizing her surroundings. Looking around, the two of them had seemingly been teleported to a random suburban street. “Wait, where’s Walter?”

As if on cue, a portal opened in the sky as Walter Goodwill fell from the shimmering opening onto Becca.

“Goddamnit, I am not a landing point!” Becca screamed, throwing Walter angrily off of her. Walter rolled to a stop before getting to his feet and surveying around him.

“Sorry, Skittles,” he said. Walter faked a smile as his mind couldn’t really stray from what had just occurred with Oblivion. Looking at Becca, he knew he couldn’t tell her…he didn’t need the pity. He’d think of some way around this. He hoped.

“Hey what took you so long with Oblivion? Did you get out of that stupid feather quest?” Becca asked, for the third time getting to her feet.

Walter didn’t respond as he just seemed lost in thought.

“Walter? Hello?”

“Oh. Uh, yeah, we’re done with that. I told him about Tapping Tommy and Oblivion loved the idea of stringing him around on some fool’s errand,” Walter said confidently.

“Tapping…Tommy?” Blue asked, raising her brow, “Do I even want to know?”

“Wait…are we back in Chicago? Isn’t this where Cheryl lived?” Walter Goodwill quickly took in a deep breath and took his surroundings in quickly, “Isn’t our car like…Halfway across the fucking country?!”

Becca sighed, “Sadly. But this is definitely where Cheryl lived...”

“Who’s Cheryl?” Blue asked, walking toward the two of them.

“Toothy!” Walter shouted, “Err…Squirrel Girl. She was on our team back some months. We haven’t seen her for awhile though…”

“What happened?”

“Good question. All we know is that she’s running from the law,” Walter answered.

Blue quickly ran up to Walter and jumped on his back almost knocking him onto the floor, “You seem to make a lot of people around you criminals.”

Walter faked a laugh, “I guess that’s my charm.”

“Well since we’re here, I guess we should head home?” Becca said.

Walter took a look at Cheryl’s old house, “Yeah, I guess…”

“We’ll get back out to find Eddie tomorrow. We just need to rent a car,” Becca said, beginning to walk. Walter started walking, with Blue still on his back.

“Naah. Eddie’s so…yesterday,” Walter said, “I don’t want to look for him anymore. I…I want to find Cheryl. And Scott! I wanna see everybody again…”

“What prompted this?” Becca asked. Walter didn’t answer…and he didn’t really want too. Why lie to her if he could just not say anything at all.

“You guys still owe me a tour of this reality if I’m going to stay with you,” Blue quickly interjected, breaking the silence.

“But of course, my lady! How about tomorrow evening at 7?”

“How about earlier so you can buy me something nice to wear? Or at least some other clothing besides my Bluestreak costume…”

Walter didn’t fake this laughter this time. He would live these last three days to the fullest that he could.
