AUTHOR'S NOTE:
This story-arc takes place before "UNDER FIRE" over in X-Men
Alpha.
Sherry's head gently rested on her mother's lap. Tanya gently would stroke the young girl's hair from time to time, her tired eyes trained on the television before her. Even though Sherry was just a little girl, Tanya would almost jump on the chance to watch anything else besides the shows her daughter watches. Only problem was finding something to watch at such a late hour. Yawning a bit, Tanya picked up the remote control and began channel surfing. Glancing down, Tanya smiled a bit. Though she wasn't Sherry's biological mother, she could still say she loved the girl like she was. But in reality, it haunted her at times the reason she accepted Sherry as her adopted daughter. Tanya was quick to shake the feeling that began growing inside of her again. It slowly crept back up on her, however. Settling to a channel, Tanya set the remote control back down and gave another glance to Sherry. It was so eerie how she felt... Bobby Drake was slammed onto his back from the uprising pillar of ice his double had produced. Running up the slanted pillar of ice, the double drew his right arm back and extended it in a great mass of ice. His enlarged fist of ice came crashing down at Bobby. It was large enough to smash Bobby's head and upper torso into the park's grass, and make a nice smear. Lucky for Bobby though, he was able to roll out of the way of the attack in time. Bobby's hair crystallized in it's messy state, as his body began transforming into ice. With the quick thrust of his palms, Iceman unleashed a blast of ice into the ribs of his attacking Doppelganger that sent him onto the ground. "I'll be taking you down now," Iceman announced nonchalantly as he shuffled to his feet. His double matched the same scrambling feet, but clamped his fists together to form a clump of hard ice, slamming it into the rising Iceman's gut. "Ungh!" Iceman coughed as he bent over from the blow, where the double quickly followed up by slamming his gathered fists into the back of Iceman to send him straight back into the ground. "Maybe I shouldn't be so over confident..." Iceman muttered as he gathered himself onto his hands and knees, the double standing over him. "You know there can only be one of us, riiiight?" Iceman looked up to the double, who was grinning behind those blue tinted sunglasses. He decided to take that moment to drop onto his ribs, and swing his feet under the double's legs. The double toppled down onto his back, as Iceman shuffled once again up to his feet. "Hey-ey now, buddy. If you're trying to say one of us is gonna die tonight, it's definitely not gonna be me," Iceman exclaimed, shaking his finger and narrowing his eyes down to the double. The double's fists began glowing a bright dark blue, as he gridded his teeth.... Not Too Far Away. "You sure this is the right street?" Gibbon asked, walking beside Grizzly with a confused look on his face. Grizzly held his upper lip over his lower lip. Glancing around the neighborhood the two were in, the battle ensuing in the park nearby caught his attention. "Uhm... if that's who I think it is, then yeah..." Iceman gasped as a pillar of ice shot forth from the ground, rocketing into his stomach. Another pillar almost immediately crashed into his back, and then another into the side of his leg. His double snickered evilly as Iceman fell to his knees before him. "Ungh.... two can so play at this game..." Iceman muttered, clenching his fist and leaping upwards with all his strength, throwing an uppercut through the air. The fist missed his double, but that was clearly his intention. A pillar of ice slung from the ground into the double's solar-plexus, and forced him to double over. Putting his fists together, Iceman brought his arm over his head and slammed the joint fists downwards. Chunks of ice appeared from the air, and rained down into the split image's back. Iceman took a stance over the fallen double, still clenching his fists. "Iceman...?" A voice questioned. "Yeah?" They turned their heads to the side, speaking in unison. The one on his hands and knees over the grass however, was rising. "Hey... it's you two..." Bobby rose a brow, becoming a bit distracted. His double pounced on the opportunity, leaping up and close lining our hero to the ground. Grizzly and Gibbon moved to act, but caught themselves. Is jumping straight into something they don't know about really a wise move to make for two aspiring heroes? "Three on one's soooo not fair!" The double announced, shaking his finger to Iceman as he slid around the two on a quickly formed sled of ice. "If I had known you expected company, I would've never dropped by -- oh whoa, look at the time. I got somewhere to be!" Cocking his head to the side, the double waved and slid off. "Ciao!" Iceman held his head as Grizzly and Gibbon stood him up, watching as his double slid off. He understood just as much of what was going on as these two who just showed up did. "Y'know, now I realize why some people call me annoying..." Iceman groaned. "What was that all about?" Gibbon sneered, cocking a brow. "Oh, nothing really... that was just my evil twin doppleganger clone brother wanting to kill and replace me... or something," Iceman bit his lip, realizing where his double was probably heading. "You guys want some practice as super-heroes?&qu |
