Author’s Note: There is a portal that has been opened between the New Universe and an alternate Marvel Universe. Both worlds will collide in the battle of the decade.

In the meeting room of NSC HQ, Judge Justice assembles his team of paranormals, along with the new team, Space Flight. Sonarman says to Judge Justice, “Once you were the judge, John Tensen. Now, I am the judge to see if you and your team will be ready for the ultimate battle.”

“We have come to the knowledge that Mindwolf, the paranormal who has killed Emmett Proudhawk, has teamed up with the new Rodstvow, and has targeted your team. We have come to aid you in your fight.”

“I don’t like taking orders from someone we don’t know,” Judge Justice says sternly. “But I may have to relent leadership to you, Sonarman, and your team of Space Flighters. Tell us what you know of Rodstvow and the seeming resurrection of Mindwolf.”

“Though we will assist you in your fight, you, Tensen, will retain leadership of the National Security Council. And I will always remember that,” Sonarman said, in the meeting hall.

The Space Flight’s HQ is at Vaughn Security Systems in NYC. They use the office briefly to offer security to the paranormals of the world. Quasar’s friends and business partners are Kayla Ballantine, his secretary and personal assistant, and partner Ken Tanaka, and best friend. They have no powers, normal humans. Kayla used to possess the Star Brand but she was freed of that corruptible power, the Brand returned to its original possessor, Ken Connell and the Old Man, the Dutch count who caused the White Event, causing a lot of humans to be transformed into paranormals.

Steve and Lynda Carrington are a husband and wife team that possesses sonic powers, as if they were using a sonar. That is how they derived their super hero code-names of Sonarman and Sonarwoman. Sonarman was the natural-born leader of Space Flight, who up until this point only fought cosmic battles of war-faring tyrants. They were willing to branch out the cases they fought to paranormals. That is why they agreed to travel through time and space to the NSC team to aid them in some dire straits. Only time would tell if that decision would be fruitful.

Jenny was girlfriend to Ben Tucker, her childhood sweetheart and Solarman imparted a fraction of his solar powers to her non-mutant body to transform her to the super heroine, Solarwoman. They were both members of that Canadian fighting force, Alpha Flight, in that other, alternate dimension.

The last two members of Space Flight were Comet Man and Captain Hero. Comet Man was once astronaut, Stephen Beckley, when Hailey’s Comet, a ship run by an alien named Max, imparted its power to him. Stephen became the super hero named Comet Man and had a brief adventure with his world’s Alpha Flight.

Captain Hero was once a boy named Bob White, when he gained the ability to change to an adult super hero by an alien spore. He had brief adventures with Power Man and Iron Fist. His only wish was to find his birth mother. In one world, he did, On this one, he did not. Instead, he joined Space Flight.

Sonarman stood up and faced Judge Justice. “For this next mission, I will need some of your members to defeat Rodstvow and his minions. I will need Ken Connell, Spitfire, Psi-hawk, Dr. Jack Jordan, and Travis and Hector Juarez. Then, with my team, our mission will be a success.”

As the Space Flight and the members of his team that Sonarman recruited, one thought was prevalent on Judge Justice’s mind; it looks like this man has totally taken away my control and authority.

Jenny Swenson listens intently as the leader of the NSC Team, Judge Justice, recites the minutes of the last meeting and at the same time, surveys the other people who are sitting at the circular bureau. On the other side of the table sits Ken Connell, Dr. Jack Jordan, Travis and Hector Juarez. And adjacent to Jenny is Johnny Doe.

Finding the recitation of the minutes very monotonous and downright boring, Jenny's mind starts to wander. Remembrances of past events. Her subconsciousness drifts with great speed. A week peels away the vistages of time. It was near midnight at their headquarters in Manhattan. Gene Proudhawk spoke up, with a tiny hint of despair lingering on his voice.

Gene extended his hand. "Well, I guess I'll be seeing you, Jenny. I better go start the car, now. This weather makes it so hard to keep it from stalling."

Jenny gripped his hand firmly. She then soothed both hands with her one. In the beginning, Gene provided a sense of unity and nationalism to the team. With all her heart, she doesn't want such a good friend and valuable member to leave her and the team's life. But she knows that she must.

The door closed firmly.

Stephanie extended her hand but Jenny didn't take it.     "Jenny..."

"Stephanie, I..."

She smiled to herself. "You, first."

Jenny removed her glasses from her face. "Stephanie, I just want to apologize to you. All these months that you've been here, I've treated you down-right rotten. An' that was wrong of me. I know that you didn't want to lead the NSC Team. You just wanted to protect us from all the nasty things that seemed to happen, especially with that Sorcerer business. The reason for the way I acted was that I was jealous... of your new popularity-- of my lack of one."

"Listen, Jenny, for a while, I was getting really high on my power and I thought that I was the controlling factor behind the NSC. We were so close before all this stupid competition for leadership started."

"Yeah. We were almost like sisters. We shouldn't let  something like this tear our friendship apart."

"Yeah. We shouldn't."

She returned her glasses to her face. "So, tell me where you're going," she asked, half smiling.

"Well, Dave and I are gonna go 'bumming' around America, in all the exotic places that we could not go to with our choice of careers.  We'll send you a postcard every few weeks, so that you can keep track of us.  But we won't be returning to the NSC, for the foreseeable future."

"Well, I hope you have a nice time."  Jenny nervously licked her lips and embraced Stephanie.

"And now, on to new business."

Jenny snapped her eyes open.

San Francisco, California…

The NSC team and Space Flight were in great battle with the new Rodstvow and the newly-revived Mindwolf. The heroes had tracked them down to this run-down section of California and it was a simple matter to do battle with them. The Prism Family used their red prism rings to blast electro-magnetic energy at the new Rodstvow but the Russian megalomaniac was almost all-powerful. He erected a shield to block and blast the red prism energies back at the Prism Family.

Ken Connell decided to use his Star Brand tattoo to try his best to see if he could defeat Rodstvow. Ken thought that if the Old Man could cause the White Event with the Star Brand and he, Ken, could cause the total destruction of Pittsburgh, then he could incapacitate Rodstvow. But the only limitation to the user of the Star Brand was his imagination. Even though he was at this paranormal for only a few years, he considered himself still a novice.

Mindwolf entered Ken’s mind to cause him to hallucinate that Barb and the Duck was still alive and haunting him. The Duck talked her ‘duck talk’ and cursed him out for creating a star baby and killing her in the process. Barb wanted to know if he still needed his special jacket, that Air Force style jacket that he always wore since he got the Star Brand. In this dream, she seemed to know he was a paranormal.

He cried bloody murder and collapsed on the ground.

Space Flight was next. Sonarman and Sonarwoman bombarded Mindwolf with their sonars and the big Russian collapsed on the ground next to Rodstvow. The lead Russian was almost all powerful, near-godlike. He definitely had a god complex. They just had to outwit him.

Quasar had been to the New Universe world before so he hadn’t an inkling on how to deal with these so-called paranormals. He used his quantum bands to bind Rodstvow and Mindwolf in a cage of quantum energy. The yellow, eldritch  energies sapped their strengths and their powers at the same time.

Just to close the deal, Comet Man, Captain Hero, Solarman, and Solarwoman each used their individual powers to fuse the cage around the villains.

Sonarman got a call on his sonar phone from Judge Justice.

“How did it go?” Judge Justice asked.

Sonarman smiled. “The first step is done. We are bringing Mindwolf and Rodstvow to the paranormal prison within NSC HQ. Case closed.”

“Let the games begin,” Judge Justice responded.
