New York, New York. Judge Justice held a meeting with the NSC Team and Space Flight. The members of Space Flight who couldn’t attend were Quasar (Wendell Elvis Vaughn) and Kayla Ballantine because they were preparing their wedding and investigating the possible hostile takeover strategy by Shiro Hanada. They needed to exact revenge on the ninja businessman. “I have a new mission for you today, people,” Judge Justice said. “I have tracked the New Hex Squad to the Amazonian Rainforest. They are trying to get the Stone of Darkness that is kept there in one of the caves. They seemed to be under the direction of Derek Shiningstar and Rodstvow. Those paranormal bodies seem to have also in their employ the Siberian Project, Mindwolf, and the clone of Emmett Proudhawk. Getting the New Hex Squad under our wing will gain us closer to foiling Shiningstar and Rodstvow’s plans for vengeance.” “What are we looking out for?” Dave Landers asked. ‘We know almost nothing about the New Hex Squad? That is why they whipped our and Solarman’s butts. We should know who are comprised of their members. We only fought Blackstone and Copperstone. But we saw more there, I know for sure. Let us in on the secret, Judge Justice.” Judge Justice cleared his throat and passed out data sheets of each member of the New Hex Squad. “Well, you’re right, Dave. You did fight Blackstone and Copperstone, their chief black magicians. They delve into the black and dark mystical arts. There is also Voodoo Doctor, whose name is almost self-explanatory. Other members include the husband and wife team of Necromancer and Necromancess, Warlock, Enchanter, Exorcist, Mystickal, Magickal, Gypsy, and Banshee Woman. That should be enough to keep us busy while we try to stop them from getting the Stone of Darkness.” “I know that I am powerful with my solar energies,” Solarman said. “And that Space Flight is a very powerful team, but even that may not be powerful enough to halt the New Hex Squad, even with the NSC Team to aid us. Do you think that we can handle it?” “Don’t sweat it, Ben,” Solarwoman said. “The reason we got our butts whipped last time was that we weren’t prepared for it. This time we know where they will be, who will be there, and we have our entire teams to turn the tables on them.” “And also, Ben, remember,” Dave Landers said, “we will also have the Stone of Darkness with us.” “Finally,” Judge Justice added, “I plan to take the New Hex Squad under our wing to turn them to our side, instead of being on the side of the devilish Derek Shiningstar.” With that said, a smile formed on the lips of Ben Tucker, Solarman. He would have to gain more confidence in battle if he wanted to be co-leader of Space Flight, along with Sonarman. David Landers, the paranormal leader of DP7 who went by the name Mastodon, knocked on the door of his SoHo apartment. He wanted to speak with Stephanie Harrington, his girlfriend and co-leader, about the news that his team and Space Flight were given a new and dangerous mission. He wanted to gather his team and reassure her that he would come home safely. The door opened by a blond haired female who was dressed in a plaid shirt, jeans, and an airforce jacket. “I guess that you are here because we have another mission by Judge Justice,” she said. “When you called earlier, I fetched the rest of DP7. It looks like I guessed right or else you wouldn’t be here.” “Well, anyway, I’m sure Judge Justice told you that the New Hex Squad are up to their old tricks again. That is half true. There is a menace afoot. They are after something called the Stone of Darkness. This will give them unlimited power over the dark arts. We have to find it and stop them.” “How do we get a hold of this Stone of Darkness?” Stephie asked. “It is held in a cave in the Amazonian Rainforest. If we find it, we find the New Hex Squad.” Dave Landers pushed aside Stephie Harrington but she already knew his intention. He was that obvious. As he raced into the lobby of the SoHo apartment, she followed close behind him. The rest of DP7 stood there, decked out in their various attire; Randy O’Brien, Charly Beck, Miriam Sorensen, and George Mullaney. They had a small army. Now, all they needed was the New Hex Squad and the Stone of Darkness. Travis Juarez’s Journal: After the brief meeting with Judge Justice and Space Flight, I had a few hours off from the mission so I went to Robert Hill High School in Strausberg, outside of Bartonsville. I was walking with Jessica Weiner under one arm and the other I had Emily Director. Things were looking up for me now. I had no idea that Emily had such a crush on me but when I found out, I was only too happy to oblige her. Also, since Jessica was my other crush, it didn’t hurt to have two best girlfriends. Jessica had to go to class so I kissed her good-bye. I was left with Emily. She wasn’t bad; I was actually beginning to like her. “Emily, Em-babe, I have something to tell you but it has to remain a secret,” I said to her. “Oh, Travis,” she said, “anything you have to tell me won’t go any further. You can trust me.” “C’mon, in here.” We went into a back hallway where I knew no one would see us. I put on my red prism ring and started to glow with red prism energies. She seemed stunned. She didn’t know what to make of this but at the same time, knew exactly what I was doing and what I was about to tell her; my secret identity. “I’m Red Prism,” I said. “My brother Hector has another ring like this. Also, our mentor Dr. Jack Jordan is the originator of these red rings.” “Hey, I’ve seen you guys before,” she started to say softly. “You’re all part of the—“ I smiled. “Right. The National Security Council. You’ve probably seen us in the newspapers.” “This is so cool. You’re like one of the first superheroes. Like Captain Manhattan.” I put my index finger to her lips. “But remember, Emily, you can’t breathe a word of this to anyone. Not Jessica and especially not Butch Thompson. This has to be our secret. I told you because I trust you.” “Oh, Travis, this is wonderful. I love you for trusting me so much,” Emily said, embracing me and planting a kiss on my lips. I received the kiss and we were in a lover’s enthrall for several moments until we separated. I saw out of the corner of my eye that my brother Hector was approaching him. He must have been given a break from college and wanted to contact me about our current magical mission. I knew that Hector worried about his younger brother so he powered down. The red prism energy from his ring dissipated. ‘Wassup, Hector?’ I asked my brother, as Emily started to blush. “We got a mission, ‘member,” Hector said. “Wait, you didn’t tell her, did you?” ‘Yes, he did. Ain’t it cool?” Emily said. “Well, I—“ I began. “You never could keep a secret, now could you, Travis?” Hector admitted. “We need to go.” “What about Emily?” “I can take care of myself, thank you very much,” Emily said, insulted. Emily watched as Hector and I powered up our red prism rings and flew out of there. Emily sighed at her super hero boyfriend. Minutes later, Travis and Hector Juarez arrived at the patch of forest where DP7 and Space Flight were encountering the Hex Squad from extracting the Stone of Darkness from them. It seemed that before they arrived the Hex Squad had activated the Stone of Darkness and had released the army of zombies trapped within. Each member of DP7 and Space Flight were using all their might to ward off the zombies. It looked like it was up to the Juarez brothers to bring the tide to their favor. “I bet Emily couldn’t imagine me being in adventures like this,” Travis commented. “Okay, Travis, enough admiring yourself,” Hector said. “Let’s get to it.” Travis and Hector Juarez flew under the power of their red prism rings to join the rest of DP7 in the midst of a battle with the Stone of Darkness’ dead zombies. Travis utilized the electromagnetic spectrum to encase a patch of zombies in a red prism cage. Hector did the same. Dave Landers used his mastodon strength to punch more of the zombies backwards, ever backwards against the forest and trees. Stephanie Harrington surrounded herself with her glitter energy and made herself stronger to ward off the evil of the zombies. Gene Proudhawk sent a push thought into the mind of Ben Tucker, Solarman. Gene told him to use his solar powers to fire up the zombies, to burn them to hell. Under hypnosis and push powers supreme, Solarman did as he was told and set the zombies afire. With the zombies destroyed and no longer a threat, Judge Justice went over to the fleeing Hex Squad, who stopped when they saw that their zombies were all destroyed. Judge Justice commanded Gene Proudhawk to do away with the brainwashing that Derek Shiningstar and Rodstvow had placed on them. After a moment’s notice, Gene had freed them of their mind control.
