The Worthington Estate. Nestled within the Colorado Rockies, it's a fairly large mansion. The Estate is owned and operated by Warren Worthington III, current owner of Angel Inc. and formerly the hero known as Angel. After recent events, Warren's had some guests staying at his Estate. Like him, they are mutants. Like him, they were once X-Men living at the Xavier Institute in Westchester. Unlike him, they still call themselves X-Men. Now, there are two teams of X-Men. One is X-Men Alpha, currently in the Xavier Institute. The other, is X-Men Omega, the team currently occupying Warren's estate. The Estate is fairly impressive. Not only does it have the many rooms, the decoration, and all the other advantages of a mansion which symbolize high society. But, it's also fully-equiped with a hanger, a training room armed with automated robots, and a war room complete with a large, Cray computer, which has access to the X-Men's files and their mutant-detecting computer, Cerebro. A crackle of energy is heard in the hanger as a tear in space opens up. It expands, and appearing from it are the members of X-Men Omega. The time-lost X-Man and current leader of the team known only as Bishop. His sister, Shard, also from the future, who now lives as a photon-based lifeform. Remy LeBeau--thief, charmer, mutant, hero--otherwise called Gambit. The young woman called Rogue. Clarice Ferguson, the youngest of the new team--christianed Blink. Betsy Braddock, the lover of Warren Worthington and the telepathic Psylocke. Pietro Maximoff, the son of Magneto named Quicksilver. And Crystal, the former Avenger and Inhuman wife of Quicksilver. They have recently returned from a battle with Fabian Cortez, one of Magneto's former Acolytes. He kidnapped Crystal to lure Quicksilver in. He had planned to use Quicksilver as bait to lure Magneto into a battle. The X-Men mounted a rescue mission, and were attacked by Thunderbird, a mutant with fire-based powers forced to work for Cortez. Once Cortez was defeated before he could send a transmission to Genosha, Thunderbird expressed his gratitude, but denied the invitation to join the team. Crystal however, opted to join the X-Men in order to be closer to Quicksilver. Now, they have finally returned to the house they currently live in. However, it will take some time before anyone recognizes this place as a true home. "Did someone turn out the lights?" Blink asked. "I thought the power was on when we left..." "It was," Gambit replied. "Let's bring some light in, then," Crystal said, using her elemental fire powers to light a flame in her hands. It wasn't very bright, but it was enough to light up the room. "Here's the switch..." Bishop said, walking over to a power switch. It was already closed. "Something's wrong. If there was a power outage, the generator would be running." "What does this mean?" Quicksilver asked. "It means someone, or something, cut the power," Bishop said. "And we need to find it. Everyone split up. Search the entire estate. Whoever did this is most-likely still here."
Sitting high in the rafters, the culprit watched as the team split up. He grinned with anticipation. "Nice try, kiddies. But y' can't track th' tracker...." He swung down once they all left the hanger.
Gambit moved silently through the blackness. Although the estate was dark, he could see well enough. His mutant abilities were even more powerful now. To what extent still remained a mystery to him. There was something that really struck him as wrong with this whole situation. He sensed that this wouldn't be a battle easily won. A stench filled his nostrils. It was coming from just around the corner. As he slowly began to turn, his mind became filled with dred. He had a feeling that if he did turn this corner, he would regret it.
Rogue flew through the large mansion, searching every crevice when she came up to it. This was definately not good. It would take someone with immense skill and training to get past Warren's alarms. Unless they were a teleporter. She considered that it might be Fatale, a member of the Dark Beast's Brotherhood. The X-Men had recently clashed with the newest incarnation of the Brotherhood, and now, Rogue was wondering if they had somehow discovered that the X-Men were currently staying with Warren. But if it wasn't the Brotherhood, then who could it be? Fitzroy could also teleport, so could the Vanisher and Spiral. Or, it could be someone who doesn't teleport. Either someone with a lot of technology, possibly Sinister. Or, someone who was good at getting in places they didn't belong. Her mind raced through the various enemies the X-Men had acquired over the years to try and discern who it might be. Her foster mother, Mystique was good at that. So was... Her eyes suddenly went wide with shock as she thought about who it might be. Quickly, she dove down, flying through the estate at incredible speeds. If she didn't find whoever was behind this, it could mean trouble. She just prayed she was wrong about the intruder's identity.
Gambit slowly turned the corner, his bo-staff in one hand. He flicked his wrist back, allowing a few playing cards to slip into his waiting fingers out of the pack he keeps concealed in his trenchcoat sleeve. Using his mutant ability to convert potential energy to kintetic energy, he charged the cards. The pink energy lighted up the room, and he discovered what the scent was from. Nearly a dozen people all lay in the foyer, dead. And on the wall, he saw blood. There was a message written in it. "I'm watching you Cajun." Only one man could sneak up on him like that, and only one man could do something this gruesome. Gambit turned, hurling the cards. "SHOW YOURSELF, CREED!!! I AIN'T GOT TIME FOR THESE GAMES!!!" He heard a grunt and saw a figure fall from the assault. "Dat's what happens when y' try t' mess with me, Creed." Gambit broke into a run, prepared to finish the kill. When he got there, he found that Sabretooth wasn't the one on the ground. "ROGUE?!"
Sabretooth grinned as he saw these events play out. The Cajun had fallen for his trap, hook, line and sinker. Now, he had injured his precious widdle Rogue. Revenge was sweet.
