ISSUE #6

by Dino Pollard

The man known only as Bishop comes from a time 70-100 years in the future where he was a member of the Xavier Security Enforcers (XSE). Now stranded in the present era, he uses his powers to absorb and redirect energy as the leader of X-Men Omega.
Bishop

However, her conciousness was downloaded into a holographic projector which Bishop took with him when he came to the present. After giving it to Forge to fix, Shard gained new life as a member of X-Factor, with her mutant ability to fire plasma blasts as well as the ability to solidify her holographic projection.

Sabretooth

Clarice Ferguson, currently the youngest and newest X-Men recruit, has faced down many challenges in her young life. When her teleportational powers first emerged, she found herself in a pool of human blood. It was a horrible and traumatizing experience for her. Then, she was captured by the Phalanx. In order to save her newfound friends, she used her powers to teleport herself, and a Phalanx being known as Harvest, out of existence. While Harvest was apparently eliminated, Clarice was saved from seeming death by a cosmic being known as the In-Betweener. He trained her to be his replacement. She experienced many different realities, the most prominant of which was a reality where Apocalypse ruled North America and Magneto led the X-Men. Then, she returned to this reality, with the aid of Gateway.

Now, after Xavier's funeral, she joined the X-Men, to find herself thrust into a factioning of the team.

She joined the faction led by Bishop, called X-Men Omega. After the team fought the former Acolyte, Fabian Cortez, they returned to Warren Worthington's Colorado Estate to find the power cut. Bishop had the team split up to find the culprit.

Now, she roamed through the corridors, charging one of her javelins with her teleportational powers to use it as a make-shift light.

She saw a figure scurry past her. Spinning around, she saw nothing, just the darkness lighted by the javelin. Then, she heard a low growl and spun around, again seeing nothing.

Blink's heart was pounding like a jackhammer. Fear enveloped her. She was able to face off against Holocaust, but this--this was different. This was the unknown. She would rather face off against a squad of Apocalypse's Infinites than face off against something she had no idea of.

"Yer new here... I seen ya before. But ya were killed on that ship."

She spun around.

"Harvest...?"

"Try again, frail."

She spun again, this time, seeing the back of the culprit. He was extremely tall, and he had a yellow fur collar. He wore a brown and gold costume, and she could tell he had blonde hair. As well as monstrous arms. He could easily rip her head off if he wanted to.

"Whoever you are, turn around now!!" she ordered, her voice carrying a sense of authority. But, it also contained a bit of fear. She brought the javelin up. It was glowing brightly with pink energy.

"I said turn around!!" she repeated. Her fingers tensed on it, prepared to throw it. "NOW!!! Or I'll kill you!!"

"Ya don't have th' guts..." he said, slowly turning around. Blink's eyes widened in shock. "Ya stink o' fear."

"M-Mr. Creed?"

"That's what some people call me..." he replied. The light from her javelin shined off something at the end of his fingers. Claws? No, he had bone claws.

"But t' you, th' name's Sabretooth!!"

Sabretooth instantly leapt from his stationary position, slamming his muscular arm into Blink. The impact knocked her to the ground, and she lost the javelin.

"Mr. Creed, what are you doing?" she asked. "It's me--Clarice!!"

"Don't know any Clarice," he replied.

"We fought together as X-Men, remember?"

"X-Men?"

Creed let out a sinister laugh.

"That's a good one, kid..." he said. "I ain't one o' Xavier's punks!!"

"Xavie--" she stopped herself, and suddenly realized her error. This wasn't the Age of Apocalypse. This wasn't the Sabretooth she knew.

Blink instantly leapt into action, drawing a few javelins from her quiver. She had no time to charge them, so she simply let them fly at the man-monster before her.

Sabretooth deflected each javelin with his adamantium claws. It was useless to try and stop him once he started. He was a ferocious beast.

Blink threw more his way, continuing to back away from him. However, he simply deflected them with ease, and just kept coming, faster. She couldn't risk blinking herself, because she couldn't even tell where in the Estate she was. And blinking Creed wouldn't do much good, because if she teleported him somewhere else, he could easily run off. No, she had to stop him here and now.

She didn't have much time, left. Thinking back to her training, she knew she needed to use her surroundings to her advantage. As she continued to back off, she hit something hard and cold. Her hands felt around and found a control panel. It was the entrance to the training room. It was titanium, no way he could get through that.

With a blink of her eye, she vanished and reappeared inside the training room.

She breathed a sigh of relief at her momentary advantage. Now, she could think of a plan. She had to think of Sabretooth's weaknesses. She knew the man as well as anyone--well, his counterpart, anyway. They would still share the same weaknesses. But what could she use against him?

There was the sound of screeching metal as Sabretooth's hand burst through the door!! But how could he do that? His claws were bone!! How could they cut through titanium?

Then, she got a good look at the claws. They were metal. If they were able to cut through titanium, they could only be made of one substance--adamantium.

Sabretooth now had an adamantium skeleton and claws!! That means he was even stronger than before!!

Another hand slammed through... and Sabretooth slid his hands into the small gap between the doors. Using all his strength, he pulled them apart!!

Blink moved back... her heart pounding. So, this is where the chase ended.

Sabretooth instantly jumped at her.

This was it--the moment of truth. She wasn't that scared little girl that the Phalanx nearly destroyed. She was an X-Man!!

Clarice flipped back onto her hands, and using all her strength, propelled her feet upward into Sabretooth's neck!! It wasn't enough to do him any serious harm, but it did give her some time. She reached into her quiver for another javelin.

Empty.

"Dammit... not now!!" she muttered. She tossed the useless quiver to the side. There was no point to it now.

Time was running out. There was only so much space in the training room. And she feared she didn't have enough. If only the power was on, then she could use the training room's defenses against Sabretooth.

"GOTCHA!!" he exclaimed, slashing her across the back!! Grabbing her arms, he flipped her onto her back. The freshly-made wounds stung, especially when Sabretooth put pressure on them.

"Been a merry little chase, hasn't it, frail?" he said, grinning. "Too bad it's gotta end..."

Sabretooth lifted his claw to Blink's throat, and began to draw blood as he lightly grazed it. The next pass would cut deeper, and she wouldn't be alive long enough to see him make a third. So, this was the end...

"Y'know Creed, if this is how you treat all women, no wonder Mystique hates you so much!!"

"What the--"

Sabretooth was cut short as an energy blast knocked him off Blink. She slowly brought her head up to see Shard, her hands glowing with light energy.

"C'mon, you're big enough to take on a teenage girl..." Shard said. "Now let's see how you fare against a hologram!!"

"I shoulda taken you out in Falls Edge!!"* Sabretooth exclaimed, leaping at his former teammate.

(* Shard was a member of X-Factor when Sabretooth was forced to work with them by the government--Dino)

Shard stood her ground as Sabretooth passed through her. Her teeth clenched in pain. The density of his adamantium skeleton made her feel like she wanted to die.

"You're gonna have to try harder than that!!" she exclaimed, regaining her composure

Sabretooth growled in disappointment. He leapt at her again, but this time, she wouldn't let him get any closer. Shard delivered another light blast at him, slamming him against the far wall.

"You all right, Clarice?" Shard asked, running over to her fallen teammate.

"Uhh... I think so..." Blink replied weakly.

"It's just a flesh wound, you should be fine," Shard noted, examining the cut on Blink's neck.

"WE AIN'T DONE YET!!!" Sabretooth exclaimed as he dived toward the two.

The whir of machinery was heard as a concussive blast hit Creed once more.

"Yes, we are," Bishop said, standing with a plasma rifle in his hands.

"It's a good thing I kept a mental lock on everyone," Psylocke said, stepping out of the shadows.

"Betsy, if you would be so kind..."

"Gladly Bishop," Psylocke replied, walking over to Sabretooth as he began to regain consciousness. "He's a tough guy..."

Psionic energy began to form around Psylocke's fist, taking the form of her psychic knife, the focused totality of her psychic abilities.

"But not tough enough."

She drove the psionic blade into Sabretooth's head. It was an extremely great feeling. Not too long ago, he took her to the brink of death. Now, it was payback time.

"That takes care of that," she said, standing up and dusting her hands off. "Some blokes just don't know when to quit."

"We should check on the others," Bishop said. "Then, we'll work on getting the power restored."
