The Externals in "EXTERNALS REBORN"
by Brent Lambert

Nicodemus set the man on fire with ease and Burke killed the man's wife without a second thought. Absalom broke the necks of the man's children like they were toothpicks and Gideon tore the man's brother to pieces. "Well, at least that rids of us of some problems," Crule said, lifting the dead bodies of the family and throwing them into the water.

"If it wasn't for your predictions, Burke, that family would have sired descendants that would have eventually destroyed us," Saul said, thanking Burke.

"That family was part of my Thieves Guild!" Candra yelled furiously, floating from the sky.

"Candra! Just the person we were looking for. Oh, by the way, don't worry about that family, they would have only caused you heartache anyway," Nicodemus said.

"I just realized you can't be the real Externals, because the real Externals were killed by Selene, so you'd better get to explaining and fast," Candra pronounced, her eyes bursting with telekinetic energy.

"Oh I assure you we are the real Externals. We are back from the dead. See, when the heroes known as the Fantastic Four fought the being known as Supreme Evolutionary,* an explosion was unleashed that rocked the plane of oblivion and released many dead beings. Some of them being the Externals," Nicodemus explained.

"Fine then... once again I will ask what is your business here?" Candra demanded.

"We want you to join our group of Externals," Nicodemus said politely.

"Why on Earth should I do that?" Candra said, almost laughing.

"Because we can help you find Adam," Saul said, catching Candra's attention.

"What did you say?!" Candra asked unbelieving and beginning to slip into a rage.

"We can help you find your long lost love Adam," Saul said.

"Why do you try and poison me with your lies!?" Candra asked, shocked and outraged by the Externals lack of sensitivity.

"They are not lies Candra, and we shall prove it if you join us," Nicodemus said holding out his hand.

"'Fine I will join you, but if you are lying to me in any way I will kill you," Candra said rather firmly.

Two Days Later

"We were lucky to find this lost Egyptian temple because Crule stumbled onto it by accident. Well, we were surprised to find inside the incantations to release your lover of the early 17th century, Adam," Nicodemus explained to Candra.

"How did you come to find out that Adam was my lover?" Candra asked Nicodemus.

"Child, you should know by now that I know more than you will ever hope to imagine," Nicodemus said.

"So I guess this must be your new base of operations," Candra said while reading some ancient Egyptian text.

"No, we have an abandoned Sinister base as our base of operations. I still don't know what you see in this guy though, Candra. From what I can tell he was a wimp," Crule said.

"Adam was no wimp! He had one special gift. He could create whatever his imagination could come up with. That was why Clan Destine feared him and they must have locked him in this temple. I spent years searching for Adam till I just gave up hope. Now I will see my love once more and we shall ride together off into the moonlit night," Candra said softly.

"Oh Candra you absolutely melt my heart," Gideon said cackling.

"Do shut up!" Saul said to Gideon.

"A guy can't have some fun. Saul you really have gotten stiff as of late," Gideon noted.

"Can we just free Adam and get it over with," Saul said, ignoring Gideon.

"I would like nothing less," Nicodemus said, turning to smile at Candra. Candra just looked away. She did not at all like Nicodemus's advances towards her.

"We must all join in a circle and you all must repeat whatever I say twice," Saul explained to the now gathered circle of Externals.

"Ismay Ismay cokko ciltai Ismay Ismay laocoon tisai," Saul said. The Externals one by one repeated what he said twice.

"Sters Vive Sters Vive mistake in time mistake in time. Unleash the man beneath the wall and by doing so free us all," Saul said, and as before the Externals repeated what he said twice. Then in the center of the circle rose a ghost-like Adam. Then he turned solid and fell to the ground, unconscious.

"ADAM!" Candra screamed as she grabbed the love of her life into her arms.

"Well, it seems like you are never going to get the beauty now," Gideon whispered in Nicodemus's ear.

"I never wanted her in the first place. I was just steering her towards the right direction," Nicodemus shot back to Gideon.

"Always the one with master plans," Gideon said when Nicodemus began to walk away from him.

"You should know better than to joke with Nicodemus," Absalom said coming up behind Gideon.

"I should know better, but I don't. Besides I can't let Nicodemus get too full of himself now can I? Because then this party would be no fun at all," Gideon explained to a disapproving Absalom.

Two Weeks Later

"I have to stay with the Externals because Nicodemus and I are very good friends. He bought me back from the hell I was imprisoned in and I owe it to him to stay in this group," Adam explained to Candra.

"If you are going to stay, Adam, then I am going to stay," Candra said, kissing Adam on the cheek.

"Excellent! Two new additions to the group. Things are just starting to get interesting," Nicodemus said rubbing his hands together. Candra was not at all sure what that meant, but she had a gut feeling this was going to be an interesting turning point in her life.

Meanwhile in another part of the base, Absalom was scrounging through some stuff left behind by Sinister. He found a diary and opened it. What he found inside chilled him to the bone. "Sinister you really are a sick man," Absalom said and closed the book.

As Absalom was reading the book Gideon and Saul were in another part of the base deciphering and decoding some of Sinister's computer information. "Look Saul... this contains the DNA patterns of nearly every single mutant on the planet. Imagine what we would be able to do with this. We could hold the world in the palm of our hand," Gideon said in awe of the power he now had.

"Just one problem big boy. We got to get Sinister's nutrient tanks powered up before we even think about starting our own experiments," Saul said.

"That shouldn't be too much of a problem with Adam around," Gideon declared.

"HA! I cannot believe I completely forgot about Adam being here in the base with Candra," Saul said with a smirk.

"You are starting to get senile in your old age man," Gideon giggled.

"Being a few thousand years old is small in universal terms," Saul said.

"True, but that still doesn't stop you from being senile," Gideon said patting Saul on the back.
