They were born mutants--possessing powers of a genetic origin which made them outcasts of society. But one man--Professor Charles Xavier brought them together to learn to use their unique gifts in the service of a world that hates and fears them. Over the years, there have been many mutants who joined Professor Xavier's cause...

Author's Note - This issue takes place before Exiles #13 and after mutant massacre in X-Men Omega.

Day One of Morlock Experiment

Why have I come back here to this place where the wretched Morlocks once walked? It is a place I once sent my Marauders to destroy. So why am I here now trying to rebuild this people? Out of boredom I suppose. Ever since the fall of Apocalypse I've been without clear purpose. After Bastion's supposed cleansing of mutantkind I've wondered about what I could do to contribute to the rebuilding of mutantkind. Many were lost in Bastion's scourging of his people. He would rectify that as best as he could. It would begin here today in the Morlock Tunnels. This race created by the now dead Dark Beast would be improved upon and made better by myself.

Day Two of Morlock Experiment

Today I bought some of my equipment to the tunnels and set up shop so to speak. Afterward I went out to find some Morlock survivors. I came across five. One was a little boy probably about 12. The other was a teenager whose entire skin was nothing, but green slime. Another was a limbless black girl who was about seven years of age. The other two were girl twins. Each only had one eye. Not exactly full of the greatest potential, but I've always been up to a challenge. I can't imagine though how Dark Beast would allow such weak mutants to walk around. Dark Beast was far from a geneticist of his class. Good riddance that the mongrel was dead.

Day Three of Morlock Experiment

I started to work on the five survivors I found yesterday vigorously. I used my grafting technology to attach another mutant power to all of these Morlocks. I gave the 12 yr. Old Gambit's powers and the slime child Polaris's powers. The two twins both received Cyclops' abilities and the limbless girl was given Havok's powers. Of course I wasn't going to stop there. Using animal gene splicing techniques I made all of the children part cheetah and wolf. The combined senses of the two animals would make them able to track down any other hiding survivors and the animal splicing would give the black girl new limbs.

Day Four of Morlock Experiment

Mental reprogramming of the five children began today. With sophisticated equipment I will wipe their minds clean and reprogram them as I see fit. Some of that equipment I gave to the Weapon X program long ago. It is very apparent that they are still using it looking at the most recent Weapon X. He's quite an enigma and has been out of the scenes for some time. When Apocalypse controlled the globe I tried to seek him out, but he was unable to be found. Back to the subject though. When I've completed mental reprogramming of the children I'll send them out to see if they can find any other survivors.

Day Five of Morlock Experiment

Before I sent out the children to track down other survivors I decided it was about time I give them formal names. Just because I fancied so I decided to name all the children after Native American tribes. The 12 yr. Old boy I named Cherokee and the black girl I gave the name Chickasaw. The two twins were named Apache and Pueblo. The slime child I chose to call Choctaw. Then I sent them out to track down other survivors. By the end of the day they had brought four more survivors to me. All of them were children. The oldest of them was a 16 yr. Old boy who resembled a fly more than a boy. There was also a girl with a deep blue skin color and her brother was covered all over in red hives though they were apparently part of his mutation. The last of the four children was a five year old. The only evidence of him being a mutant was his chest, which had an extra mouth on it. More senseless mutations from the Dark Beast!

Day Six of Morlock Experiment

Working with the four new survivors that were bought to me was child's play. I grafted Tsunami's powers to the blue-skinned girl and her brother. The other two were given the powers of Dani Moonstar. I did a minor animal splicing to the four mutants. I gave them the combined sight of a bald eagle and peregrine falcon. After reprogramming their minds I took to the matter of giving them names quickly. The blue-skinned girl I decided to call Neptune. Her brother I gave the name of Ares. The five year old I chose to call Mercury and the fly boy was given the name of Pluto. Now I had nine new Morlocks of a new age.

Day Seven of Morlock Experiment

Nine Morlocks was still far from a satisfactory number for me. My new group of Morlocks were to be my last insult to Dark Beast. I can only hope he's seeing me outdo him in every way from his grave. That would give me the most pleasure. Today I left behind my nine little children to work on some new children in my Moroccan base. The question before me is what mutants to use to be the parents of these new children I would create. Eventually I decided on using the DNA of Beast and Marrow. With their DNA I created a dozen new children. I grafted the powers of Caliban, a former Morlock, to all of them. I would save naming them and reprogramming them until tomorrow. I could obviously finish all the work today, but I like to keep up with all the happenings of the world so a break is sometimes necessary.

Day Eight of Morlock Experiment

I reprogrammed the newly made children today and gave them all their names. Since there were a dozen of them I decided to give the names of the members of the 12. Clarice, Lorna, Bobby, Samuel, Ororo, Franklin, Apollyon, Jean, Scott, Alex, Wanda, and Warren. I immediately took them to the Morlock Tunnels where they began to interact with my other nine Morlocks. Now I had 18 Morlocks, but these children were going to need someone to watch over them. I would have to create a guardian or two for them tomorrow. All children needed the proper tutelage to watch over them.

Day Nine of Morlock Experiment

Ultimately I've decided to create two proper adult guardians for these eighteen Morlock children. One will be the child of Maggott and Storm. The other will be child of Quicksilver and Jubilee. I will also use my 'blending' technique to make sure that the two soon to be guardians of these mutant children would have a blend of their parents' powers. After determining parentage I decided on their sex. I would make them both males so as to provide a more intimidating adult figure role. I already had the perfect names for the two teachers. Charles and Magnus.

Day Ten of Morlock Experiment

I introduced the children to Charles and Magnus today. They took to the two rather well I must say. The seeds for a new Morlock group had been sown today. Look at that Dark Beast? Look what a little brains and originality can do you pathetic excuse for a scientist. I should have rid myself of you long ago, but instead Bastion beat me to the punch. But now your little Morlocks are all mine. Of course this little experiment needs a little spice to it. I don't want my Morlocks to grow complacent and the only way they won't is through a little competition.

Day Eleven of Morlock Experiment

I sojourned to another part of the Morlock Tunnels far away from where my little tribe was. Here was where I was going to create a group totally opposed to my Morlocks. It would create conflict and competition, which would lead to the weak being separated from the strong. Of course this group I would create to be opposed to the Morlocks wouldn't be nearly as complicated as my tribe of Morlocks. They would simply be clones of present mutants with some animal DNA thrown in. The mutant clones of this opposing group will be Joseph, Psylocke, Rachel Summers, Sebastian Shaw, and Hazard. Of course all of the clones will be only 15 years of age. Then I spliced wolf DNA to all of them so as to hide their appearance more in case one day they were to be discovered. Now two opposing groups existed in theses tunnels. The Morlocks and the Subterran. It would take years to see the fruits of this experiment, but it would be well worth it. And perhaps these mutants could be emergency troops if the need ever arose.

Final Analysis of Morlock Experiment

These mutants hold a great deal of potential. In time they could become quite the force to be reckoned with. First they will need time to harden them and Subterran to make them strong. Now if only people on the surface left these mutants alone. It would be some time before anyone made contact with them since I'm the only one who knows they even exist. And I don't have to worry about them getting curious about the surface since I've placed a psychological fear of the surface in all of their minds. It will keep them from getting curious and let my experiment come into full bloom. With time they could be the spearhead of my new army that would soon be built. When the time comes I will decide if they are truly ready to serve me and invite them into my fold. Though that is some time away from now. No need to get ahead of myself.
